Hakone Ryokan

Will be visiting Hakone again. Assuming just the transport time, what's the estimated time for the following route? What's the crowd level for weekdays?

Hakone-Yumoto -> Gora -> Sounzan -> Togendai -> Motohakone

Hakone-Yumoto -> Motohakone -> Togendai -> Sounzan -> Gora

i only wore the yukata to the onsen or to the bathing area in the onsen. don't really know how to tie securely and also don't find it very comfortable to wear it to dinner or walk outdoors lol. you can try for the touristy experience though.

Not just ryokan, hotels located in onsen towns do provide yukata. And yes, you can walk around and eat and sleep with that yukata. I usually wear that whenever I'm in an onsen town. Save my clean clothes for cities.

You most probably need a ryokan that can fit that many adults but without breakfast and dinner to save costs. Some ryokans offer this option.

check the ichinoyu chain, they got a few ryokans. the gora one is 5 mins way from the station. although uphill on a steep slope but manageable if your luggage is not huge.

Should i stay in Gora or Hakone-Yumoto Station? I would like the convenience as i am travelling on my own ><

I stayed in Mount View Hakone in May this year. Got a single room with toliet. Onsen is public but there are also private onsen which can be reserved upon check in.

I know this sound impossible but i am looking for a ryokan with private onsen in room >< decent ones cause around $280 or if there is anything cheaper, it is veryyy far away. I think i am giving up the quest to stay overnight....

private onsen inside own room is the highest tier of ryokan rooms already

Even cheapest u might be looking at at least $400 per night at other not so popular onsen towns. Hakone is even more expensive 1 pax might cost 600 upwards. two person looking at $1k upwards.

Fuji Hakone pass is usually valid for 3 days (2 nights). Is it possible to extend this to another day? Tried to look for some info at their website. If we decide to extend it, I suppose the bus ticket back to Shinjuku will not be covered.

thanks for suggesting, the location is a plus point. just don't really like the room interior, also looking for something that the western and japanese side can be segregated by sliding doors for privacy.

looking at hakone hotel but they don't have the combi room and less convenient since it's on lake ashi. going during february and i feel a bit lazy to pack a separate bag for the overnight stay.

Oh. I'm not sure if you could find those with sliding doors with your budget.

I stayed in one which fitted your requirements (sliding doors with beds) in Wakura Onsen plus an attached bath but that was already $800+ per night for two pax.

ok ok, guess hakone is kinda upperty! i managed to get one at 250 per pax in miyajima and it was quite a nice room.

i will take a look at wakura too.

Wakura Onsen is a little far from where you're heading to. It's in Noto Peninsula but you can take a train to Kanazawa and switch to another to reach Wakura Onsen. But seriously I don't think you need that sliding door since you're going with your family.

For one night stay coming from and back to Tokyo with budget for $300+, any hotel to recommend?

What is the place recommended to stay for such a 2D1N trip? Yumonto?
