Red yeast cannot anyhow eat. Known to cause liver dmg
red yeast is statin in impure formI took green tea and red yeast+coq10
The bad one drop from 160 to 120
Overall from borderline high to optimal level
Are you considered lean ?I swim very often but still high cholesterol.
I also eat fish oil but still have high cholesterol despite no family history, not fat (consider slightly under weight) and I exercise everyday. I changed my diet (cut down on fried food, red meat, animal organs, food with lots of gravy) also didn't help, also prepare my own lunch on working days (mostly steam chicken and veggies) since I likely will have dinner outside.
Been taking medication (low dosage) for almost 2 years. Recently changed from simvastatin to atorvastatin since the former didn't seems to help anymore. Side effects are the same, muscle aching.
Oats actually helps but must eat constantly to have effects.
I don't believe any supplements can help.
if it is gene inherit from parentRecently did body checkup, despite taking fish oil for few years still high cholesterol. Thinking of go JB buy some med. Can someone advice which med the best. Many thanks.

My total chlorestrol and LDL went up couple if years after I got married and moved out and had all meals outside. Had my 1st full health screen in 2014, total cholesterol 5.9mmol, LDL was 3.85mmol. Went down a little (no change in my diet or lifestyle) when I took my blood test 2 years later but still high. Start eating oats and it went down to borderline.how high is your Cholesterol or LDL? I'm not fat too, with LDL at 5.6mmol/L during 2017. I reduce via diet after rejecting the doc recommendation. But not be the wisest decision based on hindsight, since my high LDL persist for a few years before I managed to find a suitable diet that eventually get my LDL to 2.9 by 2022. But did not sustain the diet and during the recent 2024 test, it's back to 3.5 mmol/L.
What works for me might not work for others though. For me, my LDL responds to fatty meat so when I reduce that, I got my LDL to mid 4 but when I start to reduce more meat intake, and eat plant based diet around 60-70% of the time, I got my LDL to 2.9.
That's what works for me. Eating much much lesser meat. Give it a try for 2-3 weeks and go to your GP for a lipid test (less than $30) to check if it works for you.
If thin and exercise regularly, don't have to do anything. If fat, then yes eat meds
Don’t eat this eat that lah, Just kuai kuai go take Lipitor 10 mg and try stay at 10 mg for as long as you can. Easily no problem to 85 yrs old.Recently did body checkup, despite taking fish oil for few years still high cholesterol. Thinking of go JB buy some med. Can someone advice which med the best. Many thanks.

In year 2020, shoot up again (I guess I ate too much chips during covid), no choice have to eat statin and change my diet.
Late last year doc advised me to change medication since simvastatin doesn't seem to help me. The new one seems better, less than a month already start to lower my chlorestrol readings.
I started LF (skip breakfast), low carb diet, brought my own lunch to work in 2019, not sure if that affect my chlorestrol but definitely lack of Vit B.
Can get but won't die. I met many families who had members with HC. Usually is those fat ones more jialat, thin and healthy ones still carrying on with lifeThin also can get high cholesterol ok
