Risk varies according to person and whether your fats floating around in your body is actually well protected from oxidation, or is constantly under oxidation.

Take it to the extreme: you can eat a high fat meal and spike up your LDL immediately, but why no heart attack immediately after the meal? Especially teenager and children too.
there seems to be alot of misunderstandings about fat and cholesterol.

if body is metabolizing glucose for energy, it doesn't need as many cholesterol particles to carry the fat around the body for metabolism.

if you are on low carb diet, your cholesterol levels should be higher than the avg folks cuz fat cannot exist in our blood without causing problems, cholesterol is required to serve as a carrier for the fat around our body for metabolism.

a few questions.
what's her current body composition like? fit/atheletic/avg/bahbah/buibui?
how is her eating timing like?
she got take MCT supplements like coconut oil?

1. current body composition unknown. She is 1.63 m at 55 kg (BMI around 21 with a waist of +/-60 cm).

2. eating timing is 'regular' - light breakfast (stimes she skips), lunch (packed from home most of the time to office), and dinner.

3. No supplement except Vit D (coz she has minimal sun exposure).

*Her lunch and dinner look like this (carb + veg + protein):

remember doctors are "programmed" to recommend statin when LDL is above certain number
but their understanding of cholestrol is severely lacking. you gotta learn how to intepret your cholestrol readings and make decision for yourself

if your LDL is high but HDL is good along with low triglycerides and take statin anyway? that is reckless imo
statin is not some harmless drug, it affects your liver and insulin

does she exercise hard? cuz if she's not on ketogenic diet and still seeing ketones in urine, this might be one of the cause.

Not much exercise actually. She only does yoga and simple dumb bells exercises at home and follows me to swimming sometimes.

I read her fasting glucose at 4.6 and so also no indication of diabetes.

Maybe it's just an one-off incidence and so will see how this ketones still appearing in next year check up.

Which cholesterol is high?
Fish oil is known to lower especially triglycerides and increase the good cholesterol HDL.

If you are testing your cholesterol, then you must be seeing a doctor. What did the doctor prescribe?

ya, it is not very normal to see ketones if she's not working out hard or on keto diet.
hopefully is one-off incident.

Hmmm... you need to elaborate it as High SATURATED fatty meal that comes from malnourished animals (fat has low vitamins) and oxidised heavily during cooking (fats become sticky in the blood).

Because adding bone broths, EVOO (olive oil) and avocados can turn a meal into a high fat meal too.

Everyday, I have one high fat meal: it's laced with lots of cold-pressed flaxseed oil, or coconut milk. My BMI is between 17 to 18 since I was uni 20s until now in my 40s.

You were talking about saturated fats in the original post. Correct ?

I assume that.

So I mean 1 day of high saturated fats will not kill you immediately.

Eating high saturated fat food everyday for 20 years is likely going to kill you faster.

I'm pointing out that it is not the saturated fat nor how high it is that matters.
Having high levels of saturated fat in daily diet is not a sufficient reason for cardiovascular disease.

My emphasis is on the: "sick" animal source, and on the "oxidised" or "rancid" (which is the more correct term) fats that matters.

For example, over-eating until a belly fat appears means, the cause of cardiovascular disease is over-eating, not the high fat diet... just to be clear. That's why it is confuslng.

When I eat my high fat diets, my meals are spaced out much farther apart due to lack of hunger. I have very little cravings too.

On the other hand, when an ordinary person eats a nutrient-starved high fat fast food diet, he still wants to eat more because he is not satisfied due to cravings driven by nutrient starvation.

I really am not kidding with you... after a high fat bone broth, I have zero cravings for many hours after that. So it is absolutely impossible to over-eat.

I don't know what is the nutritional value of high fat bone broth as I don't eat this.

It's bone so what are you eating ? The soup ? No meat ?

And bone of which animal ? Chicken, cow or pig ?

My understanding is very simple.

Your daily caloric intake (not excess) should consist lower amount of saturated and trans fats to bring down APOB.

Poly and monounsaturated fats are healthy.

You are right about avoiding trans fat. It is not natural.
The saturated fat part is dicey.

May I introduce you Weston A. Price, the dentist who wrote the paper: Nutrition and Physical Degeneration.
Available here:
https://www.ecoboerderij-dehaan.nl/...cal_Degeneration_-_Dr_Weston_A_Price_1939.pdf
(445 pages).
Please read it. It should explain everything.
There are many pictures inside that will show the contrasting dental profiles of poor nutrition vs good nutrition.

Nutrient starvation is the main problem with a diet high in vegetables with token amount of saturated fats. It is impossible to consume enough vegetables everyday and digest it sufficiently to fulfil all your nutritional needs. As a result, one can feel full after a meal, but still lack key vitamins and minerals for healthy living, leading eventually to the metabolic disorders. Food cravings is a symptom of a missing nutrient.

Pasture-fed herbivores like livestock cattle, sheep and goat exist as food source for thousands of years because they concentrate nutrients from vegetables in their milk and (saturated) fat. This is a double-edged sword, i.e. they will also concentrate pesticides from vegetables in their fats. Hence the importance of organic/pesticide free.

Pig is the exception, I do not classify any farmed pig available today as healthy because they are given soybean meal.

Highly agree with this. Had the same exact experience with the hunger suppression part.

Except that, after putting on about 10kg of muscle mass without moving an inch on my waist...I find my protein and fat requirement before I'm satiated almost doubled lol.

This is the most important thing about good fats(satiety). It makes me satisfied and i don't feel hungry for a long time. And i agree it is really impossible to over eat on this.

Sorry not so convincing enough for me to read through a 400+ pages of book by a dentist living in the old decades.

Wait neither did I ever mention anything about what type of diets to eat nor I recommend to eat 100% vegetables.

I don't even recommend to go on nutrients deficit.

I just merely say to opt for diets low in saturated fats to lower LDL.

Aim to get no more than 5% to 6% of your daily calories from saturated fat.

https://my.clevelandclinic.org/health/articles/16867-cholesterol--nutrition-tlc

So you can eat a highly nutritional diet consisting of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, legumes, nuts, seeds, fish, etc while minimizing saturated fats.

I'm sorry to know you are turned off to research.
But your recommendations are not suitable for children and teenagers. They will result in physical deformities (like crowded teeth, narrow jaw) and brain developmental delays.

That should be a clue that it is not even healthy for active adults. It is more like a semi-starvation diet for overweight fully grown adults.

Coming back to the topic of lowering cholesterol, targeting this is a wrong step. Cholesterol is just a symptom of a bigger problem.
