Hi, I’m considering the 98” U7HQ. I just need a big <$10000 display that can maximise the potential of Apple TV 4K/60. So the VIDAA and built in apps really do not matter to me.
is there any reviews for U7HQ I could refer to? Or any thoughts and feedback from owners here?
Like, is this TV ok under bring room condition? And does all the spec it claimed are true? Like VRR, 120Hz etc?
Wow ... I'm envious of your upcoming HUGE screen TV! If only I can get my CPF $$$ .....
IMO, though I have no experience with Hisense, from what I've read online, seems our U7HQ is indeed the "Q" version i.e. IPS/ADS version of the U7H (VA version in US). Strangely, our U8H isn't the US VA version, but our local IPS/ADS version, while our U8HQ is actually the US's U8H version. WHAT A MESS!!
Now, my thoughts about our IPS/ADS version. Well, fine for normal usage, but pales in comparison to US's version with VA panel. Since our 98" U7HQ only comes with IPS/ADS panel, it is what it is. If you like IPS/ADS panel, then go for it! If you're like me (die die want the deep blacks & high contrast of the VA panel), then your only BIG screen Hisense is the U7H 85" with VA panel. But if you're using it in bright room condition, the panel type doesn't really matter. I watch mostly in a dark room at night. Back to this 98-incher. I think it's fine for bright room, if the stated specs of max. full-screen brightness of 1000 nits is true (which I don't think it's true, coz with Rting's testing, it's more like Peak 1000 and Full-screen 600 ... which is still decent for bright room). Also, I'd assume VRR & 120Hz works, as they're stated on the specs. That said, Rtings tested the US version, and stated 3 main cons: "It supports 4k @ 120Hz gaming, but it can't display it properly, and the image looks a bit blurry. The Hisense U7H supports a variable refresh rate (VRR), and it's compatible with most sources that support VRR. Unfortunately, like the Hisense U8H, it doesn't work well with NVIDIA graphics cards, as there's still tearing with test patterns and games on an NVIDIA graphics card. It also has a slow response time, so there's more noticeable ghosting behind fast-moving objects.". So, be prepared that while 4K120 VRR works, it'll be a bit blurry. Not only gaming, but fast-action sports and animation/movies will result in some motion blur, due to slow pixel response times. Lastly, note that our U8H is a significant downgrade from US's U8H - different panel, less bright, less dimming zones, low contrast, etc.), so, while I don't know for sure, I won't be surprised if our U7HQ also faces similar downgrades compared to the US version. Thus, whatever you see online regarding the US's version, expect lower performance for our SG version.
Overall, I feel this 98" U7HQ is a nice TV for the normal user, with only the picky user not being satisfied with it.
Ok! So here's some info you may be keen to look through.

Local SG 75" U7H, which should be very similar to your 98-incher.
Another similar TV to your 98-incher. ENABLE SUBTITLES though.
Again, ENABLE SUBTITLES.
Another review in comparison to Sony's budget TV.
