think i got a defective phone zzz

for the past 4 days since purchase, my phone keeps getting intermittent wifi connection. put my previous phone side by side and everything can load perfectly fine.

no time to head down to service ctr as exams are approaching.
will go down once my exams end

What's your battery life like? SOT? It's supposed to give better network speed and coverage by aggregating multiple bands. But could hurt battery life too

No idea wad was my sot... But use intensively. FB, games, music... At night around 20% left.

It refuses to load onto my Mate 10. I suspect its an app which has not been modified for Android 8. One other app the Xiaomi home cannot even install when a new version was available.

Its the penalty of being the first to use Oreo.

I believe LG and HTC still offer that on certain handsets. I don't think Huawei has it. Pixel does not have free Google Drive storage, only Google Photos. Diff thing.

I am not sure if you really observed lower resolution or just read about the lower resolution here. I will be surprised if you could discern the difference. Anyway, the likes of Samsung S8 and Note 8 reduces the resolution out of the box to FHD+, unless you go to settings to switch it to QHD to conserve battery. I feel it may be worthwhile to go for a slightly lower resolution in exchange for battery life.

Do note the Note 8 is discounted, so you can't apply further discount coupons. While Mate 8 is still at RRP, so if they have good discounts in the coming weeks, you may get it below 1k.

I read in this forum that someone can notice the difference. I took a quick look recently but can't tell the difference. Wanted to do a comparison but some kid was hogging the Note 8 playing games.

Price difference is about $100 (blue M10P) to $120 between Note 8 and M10P at Red White Mobile.

Does M10P support wireless payment? I.e. Android Pay. GSMarena stated it has NFC but there's not much mention about wireless payment.

Not sure if it will affect handsets without contract though. To be honest, Mate 10 Pro is certainly 100 bucks above my expectation. The difference between the Pro vs non Pro is not significant enough to cost an additional 200 bucks.

Anyway, I last checked on Starhub, there is up to 200 bucks discount across a range of phones, not just Mate 10 Pro. Even Samsung Note 8 looks quite attractive with a plan there. ;-)
