Am considering getting the Mate 10. How's the camera/photos quality?

I was also considering the Nokia 7 Plus and Oneplus 6 and have decided to drop these models. My budget around $500ish to $600.

What I need is a decent camera so that I don't have to bring a digital camera when I travel. I don't listen to music nor watch videos on my mobile phone. Mainly messaging and taking photos.

Performance wise it will definitely beat the 7 Plus but not the OnePlus.

Camera wise it produces photos that please most people eyes on FB/Instagram with that Leica colour. But sometimes it's a bit too over :D :D

I was in the dilemma. But thinking that the next major upgrade will be 5G, I just went with Mate 10 at $550 2 months ago. Now the price is at $500. One major downside though. You can get phones with 6G RAM + 128GB ROM for around same price or even less. Huawei Nova 3, Honor Play, Honor V10, Honor 10, Pocophone F1 are the few that should be in your consideration. Of course Kirin 970 and Snapdragon 845 still no competition la so depends on which one you choose.

Is $500 a good price for a bnib Mate 10?

Yeah i guess its a good price.

I recently bought a Mate 10 Pro in absolute mint condition (not a single scratch) with warranty till 2020 for $550, so i would rather go that route imo. Better everything, its a fantastic phone. Quite a few 2nd had shops on carousel selling the Pro from $530-$580.

I think 500 is okay.

With regards to Mate 10 Pro vs Mate 10, I would disagree that pro is better than non pro in every way. If you need water resistance and an led screen, pro will statisfy.

Otherwise Mate 10 has things that the pro does not. It has an sd card slot (I use an adaptor two run both nano sims plus still run an sd card at the same time). It also has a 3.5mm headphone jack, which for me is great for music. Also, the resolution of the lcd screen is higher than the mate 10 Pro. So it is definitely sharper. For me, I don't need the water resistance. And I'm definitely loving the higher res for the Mate 10 non pro.

Hi! What kind of adaptor do you use? I have one but could not figure out a way to make it fit in the case. Do you use a case? Or how do you keep it from sticking out?

Just a normal adaptor I bought from some Carousell seller quite awhile back lol. I use the spigen case rugged armor to conceal (it bulges slightly, but I'm fine with it). I have one sim card for personal and the other for business, but need the sd card for photos as well as storing downloaded Spotify music :)

I was wondering whether the adapter does work.

Something like this?

Can the sim card slot closes? As Mate 10/Pro has water sealing at the sim card slot with rubber. Looks to me like no gap for the adapter. Can help confirm if it really works then I will grab one!!

I have something similar I bought from aliexpress and it does work. My issue is that I like cases with a flip cover and I couldn't figure out how to hide it and make the cover close properly. I had to forego using a micro sd card and this adaptor now is kept in the drawer.

If can use the adapter, I can use the dual sim feature when out of town and the sim card still can be used on other phone. Otherwise if take the chip out from the plastic and paste on the memory card then the sim card basically useless d.

After you put the extension sim into your sim slot then the external end you can just use sim card and micro SD card together. But it creates a gap and pressure on the tray. Can't expect to be splash proof.

Yes, there are quite a few YouTube videos with this hack. I was debating between the adaptor and doing this hack, but I was just afraid of jamming the slot. But if you are for sure not changing any of the sims or sd card, it may work.

At your own risk, but here is an example of a video I watched: https://youtu.be/6kAeF3BdHlw

Is there a hybrid tray slot for the Mate 10 Pro?

I may be wrong, but I think it may not be possible for the Mate 10 Pro... Because there is no SD card functionality in the first place. It is possible with the Mate 10 non pro because it has a hybrid tray, and allows for external sd storage. But maybe someone with a Pro would like to chip in their thoughts on whether you use an adaptor to give it SD functionality?

Is it cause the material of the case is not hard, therefore causing difficulty for the cover to close?

Oops forgot about it not having the SD slot. My bad.

Splash proof not much concern but think it won't affect it that much. How you fix the adapter to the micro sd card? Double sided tape or glue?

It is because the cover of the case is hard and anything sticking on the side will prevent it from closing properly.
