As in like once you open the camera app, the flash is set to 'auto', you turn it off.

The next time you open the camera app, it is switched back to "auto" again.

My Mate 10 camera settings no such problem. Once I set to Off, it remain that way even after my scheduled phone turn off and on back next morning.

Hello, I need some help in deciding on which smartphone to get. The choices are 1) recontracting to mate 10, or 2) wait for the mate 20 or mate 20 pro to be released.

On Singtel website, mate 10 now costs $198 (im using combo 2), which is pretty darn cheap with high value for its price, compared to the other phones offered by Singtel. I can even get a $30 discount if I re-contract online.

However, I’m having this urge to wait for the mate 20 series due to the much better specs and performance it would give (kirin 980). The one thing that I’m afraid will be that Mate 20 series would be too expensive and not to my liking (regarding design, size, headphone jack etc) as we have no concrete idea on how it will be, before the actual showcase of the phone in mid October. Worse thing is, if I decide to go for Mate 10 by that time, Singtel would probably also have discontinued sales of Mate 10 in order to make way for the mate 20 series.

So, right now I have these options:

1) Recontract for the Mate 10 now at a very nice price (and probably cry in a corner when the Mate 20 series is released and mate 20 turns out to have suitable price and design, like having a headphone jack, microSD etc)

2) Tahan and wait for the Mate 20 series, which will be set to come to Singapore around the November period (most likely this period, according to the period where the mate 10 was released last year)

Can anyone advise me on what to do? I’m currently using an iphone 6 plus since 2014 (about time i change), and have made the decision to switch to huawei due to the huge potential that I see in the smartphones that this company makes. Thank you :)

198 for Mate 10 is not really worth it. It costs only $500 if you buy from outside shops like redwhitemobile, mobilesquare etc.

If you're going into contract, might as well get more expensive phones like iPhone, you pay the premium then sell it off because the price difference is higher. The extra money you get from the iPhone sale can probably let you just buy a Mate 10 from the shop d. If and only if you can get one la :D :D

Example:-
Rather than paying 198 to get Mate 10,

You pay 1100 to get iPhone, sell it off at 1600 then you keep the extra $500.

Use that $500 to buy any phone you want or top up for slightly more expensive phones. You gotta do all the maths to know which is the best way for you as it depends on which phone you're getting

For me, I don't like all the plans offered by all telco coz it's not so well balanced between talk time and data. I only buy off contract phone (cheap ones la, I don't know how to enjoy using iPhone :D ) then pair it with Sim only plans. More worth to me as don't have to pay the high monthly fee.

Some people company pay their monthly bill so might as well lor. Hoot a flagship sell off then get a mid range, or use the flagship. Mate 10 retail very cheap now.

The setting won't change when I set it to a particular mode.

Just bought mate 10 pro n decided to join this thread.

I have a couple of beginner's questions below.

1. WiFi settings - do u use WiFi+ all the way? What's the advantage? I think switching off when i go out can save more power?

2. GPS settings - kinda interesting. Will the mobile + WiFi triangulation be accurate enough for day to day Google maps? Without satellite turned on will save much more power?

3. Selfie - any good selfie sticks to recommend for this phone. Looking at lightweight, compactness, functionalities and aesthetics.

4. Bluetooth - can it allow transmission to 2 Bluetooth headsets simultaneously? Meaning my wife n i listen to spotify using only this phone.

5. Super charging - if i use Samsung quick charger and type C cable on this phone, will it be compatible for super charging? Are there 3rd parties chargers that can super charge this phone and how much it cost? Original one is around $25 which i think is a bit ex.

Thanks in advance.

1. Wifi+ will auto switch to your mobile data automatically when maybe your wifi coverage is low or slow. So if you dont want your mobile data to burst, it is better to turn off it

2. Is accurate enough. Satellite turn on when u use google maps or other apps that need to know your location

3. Can look at xiaomi one

4. I only tried one and i think it cannot transmit to 2 devices at once

5. No cannot work. U need BOTH huawei charger and huawei cable for super charge. Even if u use samsung cable and huawei charger also cannot super charge. They have a chip inside the charger and cable to talk to each other for super charge

I using a 3rd party cable with original charger and it can super charge. Haven't tested a non original charger

Some third party cable can but need to look specifically for one that says compatible with Huawei Speed OC charging. I know Basseus produces them - I bought 2 of them and they work (has the fast charge logo when connected) with Huawei original charger.

For location information without gps (but got WiFi n mobile network), will it use alot of data for whole day if only my weather app is turned on?

my phone is starting to get all messed up.

it hangs and is not as responsive as before. in whatapp, it cannot download videos sent. it just stops halfway and they asked to retry. same for pictures. there's a very noticeable lag.

i noticed all this happened after i updated that update for the turbo thingy recently.

you may want to reset the phone and see if it'll solve the issue. One thing that I noticed after the turbo update is that my phone becomes warm fast when playing MOBA. It wasn't like that this prior to the update but i don't really see this as a major issue.

How many of you mate 10 users have visited the service centre because of hardware failures? im contemplating if i should DIY replace my broken finger print sensor, doing so will definitely void my remaining warranty of 1yr 2 months. Or is there anyone who managed to get huawei to officially repair only the finger print sensor?

TIA

Mate 10 users (pro and non-pro) got your P20 AI camera software update already?

Last update so far is still the GPU Turbo.

Waiting for the 8.1 for new camera UI with AI disable function also haven't come. Now they released P20 AI default off, if only Mate 10 can get that.

I like the picture quality but prefer without AI.

thanks. i was hoping if there's anything i can do before resetting. with the mate 20 coming so close, feel like if i have to reset, might as well just wait.

could it be that my SD card is having too much items? currently using a 200GB one and there's still 50GB left.

Hmm so the update for mate 10 to take photos with AI is out already?
