im very interested in this phone..just asking, this phone have double tap function like lg? i grew fond of that feature
Even on the Mate 9, double tap function can be accessed using a root app. HOWEVER, the double tap function was nice in a time of pattern unlock, but today, the incredibly fast and very secure fingerprint unlock makes double tap unlock's energy sapping not worth it.

So from what i understand, in terms of raw power, the mate 10 is the same as the mate 10 pro?

Only difference is Camera quality?

Not talking about aesthetics (eg: where the fingerprint scanner is located)
No confirmed information, but from all the rumours, from a performance perspective the Mate 10 and 10 Pro will share the same CPU running at the same speed, but the working memory and the storage memory size will be larger for the Pro. The camera seems also to be the same.

The differences publicly rumoured, are just chassis, screen aspect ratio, screen resolution, RAM and flash storage memory size, fingerprint sensor placement, and a few others which rumours have not yet picked up. Of course, price.

However, I think all differences will be highlighted during the presentation, and then you can make the choice. For me, it will probably be the Mate 10 because I can't wait and I don't need the additional features and want to pay a lower price.

Seems like pro version has much better stuffs. Base like nothing much now

Most of the exciting stuff for the Mate 10 is the excellent neural net chip. All the other functions, although better than existing in the market, are just incremental improvements which will not excite handphone enthusiasts too much.

If one understands marketing concepts and price skimming, mate and mate pro are differentiating product banding not really functional

Released later is still better than don't have at all. Like mate 9 pro is never sold here officially.

Anyway, Huawei teased that this is not a smartphone 🤣🤣

Rather excited on what Huawei has for Mate 10 and the Kirin 970 chipset AI. But again, not going to buy until proven useful.

This npu doesn't come with a fixed set of features. It's a cpu. Most apps will have some form of AI in the near future (it's very easy to implement AI).

So if you want proof of usefulness you can see the initial bundle apps, but usefulness doesn't stop there. All the future is AI.

Speculation only, according to some of the reading I've done, there are many many ways AI can improve images.

Simplest is, scene recognition. Ai learns from huge library of images, and optimizes settings for various classes of objects, eg human, dog, food, buildings, each own settings for exposure .

Then, motion detection and environmental detection, Ai knows whether dark or light situations, or back light or snow situations, and exposure adjustment done.

But most advanced of all is, Ai learns from library of raw and then same raw images touched up. Ai learns how pro touch-up, so when see your images, Ai will decide which touch up method the pro uses.

Also, Ai will help image processor speed up their processes especially scene and focus recognition of course.

Really exciting because all these are top complex to leak out. Even when leak out, very few will actually understand the leak.

I'd be quite disappointed if the AI is only useful for the photo taking purposes as scene recognition is just like "auto" mode which is not really useful for seasoned photographers. Besides, do pro really touch up their photos on their phone?

What I'd actually like to see is the computer learning our daily routines like when you reached home, turn on wifi, off bluetooth, set ringer to silent, etc etc. Creates multiple profiles for in car, at office, outdoor, meetings, and set it automatically by the AI. Although, there are software that can do some of that but some features require root so if AI can do that would be a big plus
