What are the risks?

All the apps may not be google play protected so all personal information are not secured. Not worth the risk..thats why need to tweak to obtain gms...

Personally, it largely depends on user. If you don't anyhow install unknown apps or surf unknown websites or even set your Bluetooth / NFC to discoverable all the time, you have already done what you can to minimise any possible risks of external data intrusion.

I was using global rom on my export xiaomi mimax 2 and I side loaded GMS onto my China rom mimax 3 without unlocking boot loader and I could use WhatsApp / Banking apps / grab app / Google maps without any issues.

Anyway, like I said. Users of current huawei phones should be capable of understanding the possible challenges they will face if they were to use a P40 series. But for reasons unknown that they don't, then just change phone loh, back to a GMS model or a iPhone lol

POSB, UOB, Dash all works in my P40 Pro without GMS. The only app that still yet to work is OCBC, there was an error msg or something when I was trying to install

Actually what is the point of getting GMS to the P40 series? Once you update the software to higher version, GMS will likely not working.

The only thing that needs to get it work for me is SingPass mobile, OCBC and tracetogether app.

Thank you for your input. I understand the risks at hand if i were to procure a P40Pro with regard to GMS. Just trying to weigh the risks at hand before doing so. I am an avid user of android auto (google maps) / fb/ whatsapp etc.

I see. Since you drive then I would recommend not to buy P40 series or Huawei phones. Unless you can find alternative solution of using maps other than G. Map.

No Android auto. Only Here WeGo map, TomTom Amigo etc.. Waze is not out yet, you can sideload with Petal Search.

Just unboxed my p40 pro... so excited :s12:

Want to ask, I normally use google map to suggest bus route to go somewhere.
Is it worth loading GMS for it? Or is there any other apps I should use?

The rest of the stuff I use that I know uses Google is
1) Gmail which I understand is not a problem
2) ACalendar that pulls my calendars from google (can live with local calendar- just that google calendar makes it easier when I have to change phone/reformat)

Is it worth side loading GMS for these usage only?

Decided to go with side load and followed the guide in English.
It is the same steps as another user who posted earlier in Chinese. Only language difference

was it complicated?
how long did you take?

Very simple. Just follow the youtube video.
Took me about half an hour. I was lucky that my phone was always going on a step by step as per video, the success, the snags.

Now I am wondering which calendar to use. The previous 3rd party calendar I used in place of google seemed not to be able to sync with google calendar now.

business calendar pro or
business calendar 2

you can create different accounts of calendar and backup them in your phone or nano card so that you can restore them on another phone

been using the Pro version for 9 years

Anyone here not using GMS?

Personally my biggest issue for jumping from 30 Pro to 40 Pro + is not being able to backup / restore WhatsApp massages.

My 2nd biggest issue is I play clash royale and make in-app purchases via Google playstore.

I don't mind using HMS as long as my concerns can be resolved and I understand that I can use phone clone function from old phone to new phone but I doubt it'll solve the above issues.

For existing GMS users, how many times have GMS stopped working for you? And do you need to re-install GMS again?

Thats the hassle that I'm unsure if I'm willing to go through :(
