There isn’t a camera in the world that can, or will ever make up for the loss of GMS, but that’s just me. I use Google Pay for everything and losing that is an instant dealbreaker.

i heard from a telco staff; if you side-load GMS, it voids they warranty

anybody here using the phone for what it should be? aka HMS?
No it doesn't void any warranty.

Warranty is covered by huawei.

While they would recommend you not to sideload but Huawei Singapore already assured their customers that warranty is still covered because its a hardware warranty.

I assume that they have means to revive the phone in case of bricking but so far I haven't heard of any such cases.

So far there are 2 proven methods to backup and restore WhatsApp msgs but its only from android to android -

Huawei cloud to huawei cloud.

Or backup onto huawei memory card and restore from there.

I haven't heard of iPhone to P40 series yet.

Maybe you can port from iPhone to android phone using dr fone

The do the above mentioned 2 methods or just directly sideload gsm into a p40 series and use dr fone from ur iPhone to a GMS p40 series.

Buy P40 Pro Plus or Wait for Mate 40 Pro

I m currently using Mate 20 Pro (Bought it on launch day)

Is it better to wait for Mate 40 Pro or select Mi 10 Ultra or P40 Pro Plus.

Any suggestions?

Wait for mate 40 series to be released in Singapore if you're not in a rush, P40 pro + price will drop once mate series is out.

If you're on a budget plus don't need local warranty and if you don't mind to manually install Google apps you can consider getting mi10 ultra.

I think Huawei having announcement on the 18th? If u can wait, just wait awhile more and I am sure the newly announced phones will caused the current models to drop in prices.

was looking at the youtube video again..

i guess even though we can get it to work eventually, getting GMS on the phone requires so much work

best to just accept HMS as it is, and use it accordingly

If relied on something until cannot do apart, then next time difficult to try other brands. I'm using China 20x without google for almost 2 years, no issue. Only thing that I cannot do apart is native call recordings in mobile phones. Cos my coy a lot of prata king, call recording saved me numerous times. So, I would get China version Huawei or Asus rog 3 which had call recordings natively in build.
