Personally I had side loaded and used the mate30 pro for a couple of months and there’s minimal inconvenience. Huawei’s innovation on mobile photography, battery plus their matt glass designs are undeniable!

I jumped in the bandwagon to p40pro too from p20pro

I am not very updated with the technology trend but I do know about the Google issue

So I decided to still go ahead because my p20pro impressed me much till today

1) I realised most app I need can still be downloaded
2) the biggest problem is Google calendar but I decided that I can use other calendar too.
3) I don’t use all the map, payment function so it’s of no relevance to me

Crossing fingers that the battery life will be good

Just sharing my thoughts

I read from facebook pages and some users mentioned that if you bring the phone to huawei shop and they can do "magic" on your google concern. Is that lobang true ?

No much Google magic. Anyone under Huawei found to do magic or assist in anyway will be strike out immediately.

For me I think the P40 is good enough as it has the same 1/1.28-inch main sensor, but I'm still happy with my Mate 30. Hopefully the same big sensor will be ported to Mate 40.

I can also feel Huawei is serious about their HMS. Last time when I bought my phone I see a lot of apps can't be found, but now most of the local apps are available, except for those Facebook, Whatsapp etc. I have sideloaded GMS to download them. Looks like it's not so easy to deal with those US companies. They still need to work harder on this though.

Anyway, I have been a loyal Huawei customer since their P8 series. For those who think it's not worth to get it without GMS, you have your point and there is nothing wrong. But for me, I am still supporting them due to the quality of their products. Maybe it's just me, but their phones are just not going to die, even the battery life is still as good as new after 1-2 years. Lastly, I think they are the one who keep pushing the limits of mobile photography and force other manufacturers to up their games. Big thumbs up to them.

Microsoft is very serious about their win OS for phone too. They even bought over Nokia just to ensure win OS can be successful but in the end failed.

Is too late for another OS (to be exact,not even OS, but just a app store on top of Android) when Android and iOS has already captured most of the market share.

The worry part is today work and tomorrow don't. You never know if Google will patch this up. Another worry is if USA will relex in this Google restrictions. If finally relex, will Huawei release a integrated version with Google play store and GMS?

And, what about future Android version update?

I suppose if they are people who can go through the steps to side load and enable gms, they will be able to revert it to the original condition if google and hw make up and a full integrated version is released.

I think once the apps are enabled and working, it's hard for google to block unless it's a server side thing. The only issue is once they patched, new phone owners cannot use the same method and have to wait for another workaround
