if ur computer is pre-installed with Win XP, u should have gotten the Win XP cd from the vendor.

If you purchase IBM Thinkpads from NUS, you will be given the recovery CD.

But if you purchase the IBM Thinkpads from the retailers, most likely you will not be given the recovery CD because the recovery files are stored on your harddisk. Hence no point giving you the recovery CD but you can purchase the recovery CD from IBM Service Centre. But if one final day your harddisk died off, you have to send it to the IBM Service Centre at Changi South Avenue for servicing.

In my opinion, it would be best to have both the recovery CD and the recovery files on the harddisk.

Hope I have answer you questions and feel free to correct me if I am wrong.

i dun think so. rocovery cd is one thing, Win xp cd is another. the hard disk only has the recovery cd (which allows u to restore factory setting and pre-installed software from IBM). win xp cd contains win xp which u need to install, say, after reformatting ur lappie. i bought my T42 from SMU and got the win xp cd. i think u shd go ask the vendor for the win xp cd.

No, the recovery partition contain the WinXP itself and all the pre-install software.
I tried restore once before.

Recovery CD

New here. T30 owner.

1 set recovery CD from IBM cost S$30. Is it possible to get those who have the recovery CD make a copy for us and we reimburse the cost ?

Thinking of getting a 2nd hand T41. Anyone knows of anyone else selling for a reasonable price ?

If you still have the recovery partition. You can create the CD from it

How to create recovery CD from HD ?

Thanks cscs3.

Please give instructions how to create a system recovery CD from the recovery HDD partition. I am not sure if my HDD recovery partition is still intact. The serviceman had already tampered with my system twice since I bought the system nearly 3 years ago.

Reluctant to incur additional costs if I can avoid it. Warranty is over. Any helpful suggestion(s) is most appreciated.

Idyllic :o :o
