If you actually calculate, you are overpaying for the device with the plan over the contract term. Some will argue that you also need to pay for a plan. However, devices are having a longer lifespan, so SIM only looks better for me.

You take $20/mth * 24 + Apple retail set for iphone 11 pro max 512gb at $2,349.

For contract with phone, I give you $1,860 + $30*24 based on M1 cheapest plan with device. If I factor in paying for the caller ID, it’ll be the same already.

really really tempted to get the iphone 11...but the 11 is not much of an upgrade from the Xr other than the camera yes?...so no point changing i guess...both also use the same display specs too from what i read

iPhone X user here who got the iPhone X since first day of launch. Not going to upgrade this year. Have been considering midnight green iPhone 11 Pro Max 256gb but drop the idea.

Likely to switch to sim-only plan in early nov once the contract is over.

Are u on cis plan currently? Anyone know if I'm on cis plan and switch to sim only plan and after 12 mths I wanna switch back to cis plans, do I have to pay conversion fee again? (Singtel sim only is 12 mth bound)

Because total cost of ownership over 2 years is about the same. But you get flexibility when Sim only plan gets better or cheaper over 2 years, cuz no contract

A lot of ppl got no cash flow to cough out 1-2k on a phone ma. that's why contract phones are still the mainstream way to get iPhones and that's why apple also introduced the financing scheme

As someone who converted from 2Y contract to SIM-only plan, it’s really an awesome flexibility to have. Besides, ST’s 2Y contract plans’ data is horrible compared to M1. On top of that, iPhones can be bought for hundreds less than retail from handphone shops. Just found out about ST’s mobile leasing plan too so you get the generous data plan + phone and still have the option to swap phones after 12 months (with fees).

I think there is a conversion fee of $70 when you want to convert from cis to personal plan.

If you are coming from XR, you won't feel much difference. Except for the wide angle camera.

It's not really a sizeable battery upgrade but more on the efficiency of the new bionic chip.

if I go with M1 sim only(seems GOMO doesn't support roaming calls/sms yet) I need to pay $225 more. seems too much for that "flexibility"
