Its a well known fact that Samsung always give out freebies to entice buyer so as to gain more market shares, and then their phone price drop like just within a month or so.

It's a hard fact that apple device retain value as compare to Samsung and apple never ever give free stuff (except for back to school promo).

I am a Samsung user since S2 era, if anyone feel I am bias to Apple.

Sent from Supreme using GAGT

I think Samsung phone effective sell price is always lower than their published price. It is their marketing strategy. During launch, they give free gifts. One or two months later, they take away freebies and "reduce" price by the equivalent freebies value.

I think trade-in value is overplayed for iphone. A sample of phone came out at the same time

X - $300. Note8 - $200
XS Max $550 Note9 - $350
11 pro max $600 Note10+ - $550

Just for a little difference in trade-in price, you are paying in range $600-$700 more for iphone vs samsung flagship (say 12promax vs Note20 ultra) here in Singapore on contract or full price. But in other countries, both these phones are probably selling in the same price range.

A check in RWM trade in price.
iPhone 11 pro max 64GB - S$970
Samsung Note 10+ 512GB - S$620
iPhone XS max 64GB - S$600
Samsung Note 9 512GB - S$350

So basically, 2 generation ago iphone trade in value is still higher/same than the top end samsung model of 1 generation ago. And this is just lowest end iphone (64GB) vs samsung high end (512GB).

Next year is too soon, Apple only changes the form factor every 2-3 years. A portless iPhone will be exciting.

Next year just an upgrade year with screen 120 refresh rate, touchID, camera upgrade.

Apple will remove the charging port next year and use the proprietary magsafe. Then they will stop support for Qi wireless charging citing magsafe is the only safe to use (pun intended). Then you have no choice but to fork out more money.

Just wait for it. You think apple put the magsafe magnet there so you can stick your hello kitty on the back?

Exynos with AMD does look promising as mentioned by iceuniverse. Finally on par or better than SD maybe.

It does since AMD has experience in GPU file though not in mobile GPU.

Apple in-house designed GPU still has yet to reach the full potential though. Apple Silicon Mac will show how far Apple has come in terms of GPU design.

There is a chance next year tbh in one of the top end model which has everything you mentioned. Touch and Face ID, 120Hz, massive camera upgrade, portless and new battery construction.

You’re right. Likely will be the same design, and might add Touch ID on screen. I’ll rather have this year’s phone.

Brighstar values iPhone 11PM from $680 onwards.

Never had a good impression of bright star because it depress phone price to have bigger profit margin.

Heck even singtel is offering $700 for 11 pro max 64gb so you know what tier this people are at

You can only wish... and hope.

120Hz, touchid, camera and new fast charge will be enough to drive upgrades for a S year.

The new form factor, Portless/notchless will only happen in 2022/2023, with a higher probability in 2023. As Apple has changed to a 3 year form factor refresh cycle since iPhone X.

if this year's battery life is poor or the same as last year's model. i don't see why/how you guys are looking forward to the 120hz ProMotion.

don't get me wrong. i like to have a 120hz screen. but if the battery life takes a further hit on an already not so good battery, that is too much of a price to pay for.

unless there's a new battery technology. and when we thought once Jony Ive is gone, iPhone can go back to become thicker to have more battery capacity.

Simple, this yr offer you 3.6k, next yr offer you 3.9K with promotion.

Just reuse 11 pro max 3.9K battery.

i was also slightly disappointed at the slight reduction in battery capacity for iP12 compare to iP11. can only hope for iOS to optimise the phone and lengthen the usage with 1 full charge.

Johnny Ive or not, Apple is obsessed with thinness so always form over function.

They will do whatever it takes to reduce the thickness. Case for example, removing 3D Touch.

Whoa whoa whoa this is Apple we're talking about. You want them to pack all these features into one upgrade? :D

120Hz + 5G is going to slaughter the battery

The 5nm chip in the 12s will help with that, as for how much, we can only wait for the real-world tests, coming out in a few days

Not exactly. I mean the 11PM is thicker than XS Max even without the 3D Touch component. The only reason why the 12PM is thinner is because of the angular design. You can fit things more efficiently, and thus enabling a thinner design.
