Apple is scamming buyers in Singapore. Launch pricing

IPhone12 pro max: US$1099 / S$1969
Note 20 Ultra 5G: US$1299 / S$1898 (incl. $388 worth free gifts)
The US$1099 is for 128GB model
The SG$1969 is for 256GB model

Not an apple-to-apple comparison

No pun intended

Looking good. Recession nowhere in sight. You reckon the iPhone 12 sales (4 models combined) will reach or surpass iPhone 6 and 6 Plus sales numbers?

6s/ 6s plus sold the most in iPhone history with 231million units. It’s very hard to surpass this number. Even competitors are struggling to hit this number. 200 million will be a safe number for iPhone 12 series.

Got to give it to Apple for pulling blinders over fans eyes without them realising about it.

Would be interesting to see the reaction when Samsung and the rest of android competitors remove earbuds and charger from their box. It’s good to see Apple influence the market and set the trend moving forward.

Thanks for that. Corrected my post.
It is US$1199 in US.

But still a premium over US price
And way overpriced compared to Note20u (apple to apple comparison of launch pricing)

Apple will remove the charging port next year and use the proprietary magsafe. Then they will stop support for Qi wireless charging citing magsafe is the only safe to use (pun intended). Then you have no choice but to fork out more money.

Just wait for it. You think apple put the magsafe magnet there so you can stick your hello kitty on the back?

You pay more for the iPhone, but it keeps its resale value. Can't say that for the Note, or any Android handset, for that matter. Also, when you throw in like 400 bucks worth of freebies, that doesn't inspire a ton of confidence that your flagship device can drive sales based on its own merits. Plus, Exynos needs to GTFO

I'm no Apple shill. Actually coming back into the Apple ecosystem after about 5,6 years in Android and there's a lot of Apple BS I'm just rediscovering, plus a whole stack of all-new BS. Both platforms have their good and bad though, so you just roll with it as best as you can. Apple never force you to buy their phone, don't like just switch lor.

Obviously Apple will move to portless iPhone sooner rather than later and it has always been in the plan. The plan is coming to fruition soon and MagSafe is the prelude to that. Moreover, MagSafe is not even the true wireless charging Apple is looking at.

Also, MagSafe is proprietary but it is fundamentally still Qi wireless charging, just like the AW’s charger.

Sales tax + additional padding to protect themselves from fx fluctuations. They are after all, a US company that counts profit in USD.

Btw, your Note 20 Ultra 5G (256gb) can be bought brand new for just ~S$1350 from outside retailers right now, just 2 months after launch.

You know it's going to happen lol. Samsung already put out a diss ad so we're well on our way. Next year Samsung, maybe the year after, Google.

To be fair, not all trends Apple starts are good. Skyrocketing handset prices, Apple started it and Sammy followed soon after because who doesn't want more money? Now this tomfoolery with taking the charger out. I just paid 30 bucks this afternoon for their USB-C charger. A courier is going to deliver the item to me so whatever carbon savings Apple had have been neutered by this guy driving all over Singapore delivering stuff and using up fuel as a result. Make no mistake, all Apple did was hand off carbon costs to everybody else.

You can give whatever justifications. But still the fact is the price in Singapore is bloated. Doesn't deviate from the fact that iphone buyers here are paying more.

Have to consider samsux using the inferior Exynos and it's bloated software. How many years support of software update

True, the prices here are some what inflated. Calling it a scam though..please look up the definition of a scam.

And pulling Samsung into the comparison isn't too helpful, since prices on flagship Androids tend to drop by $100/month after launch.

So you feel perfectly ok to hand over more money to Apple just like that?

It is perfectly ok defending a phone you like but defending profiteering just doesn't sound right from any angle.
