Yours is JB? I mean it another box and not the exact retail box?

he got a brand new replacement as he reported for exchange within the 14 days exchange period. Another benefit of ordering directly from Apple Store :D

@newbish hows the new sets? Which production week are there and any uneven finishing like the last one and hissing?

ya, you can try doing the "hard reset" on display sets, I was shocked when I saw the reset screen kinda glitch out. It doesn't always happen though. Definitely an iOS 10 issue

The edges are perfect. And I mean perfect. However... haha shall not get into details. And yes hissing is still there. Not bothered by that.

It's week 39.

that's why we shouldn't be so anal about getting brand new set as replacements. the issues can also exist again.

i feel that my replacement set has longer battery life. not sure if it's placebo effect though.

Just for context, I didn't exchange it for the hissing problem. My original problem was fixed. So my advice for those who wants to change for hissing issue, if it doesn't affect your daily use, just keep it :)

Also worth to note that I find the battery life of iOS 10 to be a little weird. without huge difference in usage between days, sometimes able to obtain much better battery life than other days.

No real solution except to exchange the phone.

But first, is your hissing so bad that you can hear it even when you don't deliberately listen from the Apple logo? Do you normally record videos in a very quiet environment?

Heard people claim that updating to 10.0.2 reduces the hiss a lot. Give that a try? I personally never tried as I'm on 10.1 beta.

as mentioned earlier my ip7+ has loud hissing sound and I did not buy from apple store online (bought from singtel). called singtel after service and they said company policy is to direct customers to apple directly as warranty is issued by apple and not singtel (duno wad weird logic).

anyway, after multiple calls and 2 trips down to QCD, apple will be arranging a replacement set for me. i told them that i am not accepting any refurbished set as my phone is barely 1 day old when I discovered the hissing sound. they clarified that replacement set is not a refurbished set. it has not been used before by any means, but comes with no box and accessories.

duno they trying to smoke me or not???

If no box, should be NN. Did QCD arrange for Apple replacement or did you contact Apple?

All replacement sets comes direct from Apple's factory after the refurbish process. There is no way to know if the set was ever used before because you can never trace it back at all.

Look, if you are working for an AASP, and everyone comes in to insist that they want a brand new set, which they don't have cause they don't sell them, won't you just tell them that this is a brand new set, since technically it is from the factory and make everyone walk away happily?
