today's weather is very good
before the race (around 5am) was really cold at mid single digit
start of race high single digit and slowly raise to low 10s, with gentle breeze. only down side is there is a slight pollution in the air.
the first half of the race is flat throughout, from around 27km onwards there are a few bridges to cross but not super steep. Am actually quite surprise the course record for men was not broken. By 30km mark, they were already off the pace.
One popular male influencer 大正 did manage to get a PR and ran all the way with the Women's champion, Brigid Kosgei, who broke the course record at 2:16:33 (previous record 2:20:37) .
As Shanghai is under review to be the next Abbott World Marathon Majors venue in 2027 (after Sydney this year), this year is the first time some of the participants will have to undergo urine tests after the race.

Got HM? You ran?

Berlin like a lot of Sgrean go. Maybe next year, not your luck for this year.
In a way, I am glad Singapore Marathon didn't get the abbot WMM for this reason. We still can race as long as we register by closing date. Just look at Sydney, immediately requires ballot once they become a WMM, even locals have to ballot.
I know others who go for WMM as tour packages, I guess one of these years if don't get lottery, will consider just doing tour package haha

You know that fella? Is the Singh in the group. Balvinder Singh. Previous SG record holder for 2 decades.
No wonder so fit.

https://www.prlog.org/11731731-reco...-steps-at-the-swisstel-vertical-marathon.html

Balvinder Singh was the Singaporean record holder for the Swissôtel Vertical Marathon for two decades, holding the record from 1989 until 2008. His specific record time was 6 minutes and 52 seconds.
The record was broken by German stair-racer Thomas Dold in 2008, who later set the current event record of 6 minutes and 46 seconds in 2009.
The Swissôtel Vertical Marathon (now known by other names after hotel rebranding) involves climbing 73 storeys and 1,336 steps.

Had a chat with my friend after my run today and he told me GCM registration is tomorrow. I will be signing up for it since it's first come, first serve. Had a discussion with him, and decided to run the HM instead of FM.

Race will be on 4/7/2026.

All the best! Your training has been going very well. For me I'll think about it, ask my wife if she wants to go australia as that is close to her birthday

@Kuudere As expected I did not get Berlin marathon haha. 3 tries tokyo, 1 try nyc, 1 try Berlin all no luck so far
There's a lot of non-ballot races, Gold Coast is open today. Perth marathon is open now too (October). There's also races in Japan/Korea, but never look into it too much.

I will be going for TW HM in January and likely Gold Coast in July, but need to get my leave approved for the latter first.

Have to queue for Gold Coast marathon registration, I just realised. 32k people.

Wow, but yeah Gold Coast is flat so it is super popular. Many Singaporeans go there for PB.
