Is carbon plated shoes from CN suitable for casual runner & on treadmill?
Is can, but best to prehabilitate and strengthen first, esp focusing on any calf strengthening exercise(s) which would strengthen the 2 most common tendon/fascia injuries. Then you progress up in mileage slowly, or if you are already intermediate runner of over 1 year, slowly intro in a bit of mileage/sessions in the week to mix in with your other shoes. If you progressively load it in + strengthen consistently, i really dont see why the vast majority of folks would have issue.
I amateur runner also (just that faster than most recreational/health based runners that's about it nia) and more importantly also in my 50s, i can only do plated shoes simply coz that is about all that i have. No issue with plated even though not young and i dont run slow. But i dont do longer distances, in fact 10k i also dont do nowadays coz no 10k races atm.
I still have Novablast blast 3 but pretty slippery, i just came back from Batam wearing my novablast 3 and i slipped once on tiles, coz Batam areas also a bit dustier than SG. The sole no more pattern liao.
I also have Rebel v3 and prob around the same, fair bit of mileage on them.
The others all plated. But totally no issue nowadays, since 2023 was my last injury. My last (serious) race was T100 in 2025 Apr.
How about do this, esp if you have free weights or just 2 bags of 10kg rice. (just no weights first before progressing up)
Then this, 30 deg flexion ok liao. Hits the soleus part better, good for running.
What i also do in between sets of 3 for calves is that i do 2 sets of tibs raise. Takes care of any potential muscle imbalance. It's not the most useful/effective to do but it's way better than nothing and takes very little to do .
In the real world, very very few folks do/focus on this. Also one of the few ways to help patella issues as well.....it cannot be bad one and just takes literally "nothing" to do if done with calves.
