This might be beneficial for the older fellas here.
I dun like trails at all lol, however, am thinking I need to start on slopes before SCSM. Maybe Mt Faber or just up and down Cantonment area got one slope.
He has come out of nowhere honestly but very skeptical of Kenyan athletes being "clean" atm. Hope he is though, then the world has another teenage phenom
there are many variations of specifications in carbon plated running shoes from CN brands and the usual suspects from International brands (from gentle to super aggressive ones). If you insist on having carbon plated shoes, go for those that are less aggressive (can try the term 全民碳板) since it’s for casual running. Alternatively, you can also go for nylon plated running shoes, which are generally less aggressive than carbon plated ones. If you want to save cost and help yourself to build up running abilities, perhaps non plated running shoes that go well with your running mechanics, fit and gait will be a more appropriate choice. Is carbon plated shoes from CN suitable for casual runner & on treadmill?
Hardly anyone who did their first marathon felt they have trained properly. Most go in with some form of anxiety they are not ready yet. And yes, the experience for the first one is usually terrible for most is us.Anyone signed up for SCSM full marathon. I just saw a FB post from official SCSM and it stated that both FM and HM are already 95% sold out. I dunno it is true or not coz I remb last year during late Nov 2024 ,still have slot for FM. I am interested in FM but don't want to commit coz I scared I might end up under trained ..
i just had a quick jog (3km with 6 min 30 secs pace) with Qiaodan Wind (nylon plated) and dun really enjoy it. quite stiff. in fact Bmai Jingtan Fly was much more enjoyable at the same pace....there are many variations of specifications in carbon plated running shoes from CN brands and the usual suspects from International brands (from gentle to super aggressive ones). I just ran in the Li Ning Red Hare Pro 8 last night. Very enjoyable ride. It has a green color plate underneath. Don't know if it's nylon or not. This shoe is beginning to be among my favorite ride along with NB rebel 3.i just had a quick jog (3km with 6 min 30 secs pace) with Qiaodan Wind (nylon plated) and dun really enjoy it. quite stiff. in fact Bmai Jingtan Fly was much more enjoyable at the same pace....
can recommend forefoot foot bouncy china shoes? with or without nylon plate...
Yes very stable shoes. and well protected and supported. So this shoe is an excellent recovery shoe coz it is gentle on a fatigue legs from all those cumulative training loads.@xllms
Just did a 30 min recovery run with the new Eleos 361. Tapering a bit before this Sunday's Lazada run. As Ender mentioned, definitely not as bouncy and soft as Novablast 3. However, for recovery, it is pretty cushioned and stable. Really good recovery and easy pace pair of shoes while NB can be used if needed for higher paces.
Mount Faber offers slope running on road surface, only issue is need to keep a close eye on the incoming cars.
Could run on sidewalk but I much prefer road since it’s smoother. The hill slope is not too aggressive and best suits long distance running unlike Bukit Timah Hill and Bukit Batok Memorial.
i think this red hare pro 8 is non plated. how does it compare with NB rebel v3 / 4?I just ran in the Li Ning Red Hare Pro 8 last night. Very enjoyable ride. It has a green color plate underneath. can try a pair that i am using and loving it as a all-purpose non-plated shoe: PEAK 匹克 千层浪i just had a quick jog (3km with 6 min 30 secs pace) with Qiaodan Wind (nylon plated) and dun really enjoy it. quite stiff. in fact Bmai Jingtan Fly was much more enjoyable at the same pace....

you can search for Chinese reviewers comments on this pair, which is a trainer that goes well in various paces.
And LINING 李宁赤兔 Pro 8 is also a possible option based on online reviews, and based on Deepseek, it is carbon-plated, 6.5cm from forefoot to arch. But I don't have one to provide further insights.
I don't have rebel 4.
If you like softer cushion, rebel 3.
Red hare 8 pro is firmer, but that is also responsive and resilience. Very good as a daily trainer. I can see myself alternating between these two and the QD 强风3TR for daily runs. Rebel 3 and red hard for the longer runs.
reviewing my above comment, i think for summer i really need to have proper warm up, eg. some stretchings and start with walking before transitioning into slow jog to maintain in z2. But in cooler weather (below single digit to below 20degC), i can start slow jogging after some typical stretching and maintain it. The cooler the weather, the longer i can maintain z2.my z2 hr can only be done with brisk walking, once i do any forms of jogging it will shoot into z3 easily in summer conditions
it feels roomy at the toes area. The shoe is designed like a slow LSD shoe (large forefoot and generally generous rear coverage in the outsoles) but runs well in wide range of paces. In the middle part it fits snuggly but not to the point of uncomfortable, to me it is just nice. As I supinate, especially more on my left, i appreciate the cut out at the inner side of the midsole at the arch area, which helps to balance my pronation issue. It fits me very well and has become my go-to shoe if i can only bring one pair for travel (jalan jalan + running). You can find out more in the reviews below.how does the PEAK 匹克 千层浪 fit? i had a really tough time reading all the reviews for qiao dan and bmai, heng got the suitable size
i'm fine with firmer but will definitely need responsive... actually NB rebel V4 is really a not bad shoes... buying the nylon plate qd is for fun cos wanted to try nylon plate and it's like $40+...
@Skyrillex I think trying for sub 3 local hahai signed up for SCSM too! my first ever FM!
