what is everyone take on barefoot running or minimalist shoe?
does it really help to strengthen the feet and improve form?
My take is yes. I did minimalist, not barefoot just sandals and minimalist shoes with low drop and thin midsole for a few years before super shoes existed.
But need to transit gradually with low mileage and slowly progress, else your Achilles tendon will injured quite jialat.
You will know it works when your calves aches. It is just DOM.

I find chinese reviewers in general are more detail and technical compare to the western reviewers.

Young okay but old not encouraged to as it will hurt your knee joint.

I will go for good support n cushioning.

The only thing i'm noticed was $600 for ekiden. Bloody expensive haha.
Divide by 5. $120 each.
Last runner only run 2.7km for $120. Probably don't even get to use any of the hydration point.

I ran Ekiden many years back before. Not very pleasant experience, as in need to ensure every runner will make it on that day. The night before, call up everyone, and remind them to wake up and be there.
I was the 5th runner out of 6. When I received the sash, it was soaked with sweat from the previous 4 runners. Putting it on was harder than the run. I won't do it again.

It is actually protective on knee. It engages more muscle group especially the calves. And the ground feel help you to adapt your landing and activate the right muscles for the impact load.

Too late liao, moi already registered for the SCSM FM in order to get the haolian tee shirt
I am curious. Is it possible to finish the 42.195km at brisk walk pace? :ROFLMAO:
Or sure need running to complete it within the cut-off timing?

Don’t think so ba. Cut off time for FM is 7 and half hour but in reality it will be probably be closer to 7 hours if you are one of the later waves.

If you brisk walk at 10 minutes per km high risk, I think at the very least try to run HM distance them afterwards brisk walk to the end.

well i read that cushioning is actually bad for your feet due to the lack of feel and you tend to land harder. its like you tend to punch harder when you wear gloves as compared to bare knuckles.

anyway i got interested in all these minimalist stuff because of this podcast. its worth a listen.
