Bro, don’t think can reach on time 7am .

Have to start doing longer long runs in the morning 🤣

I ended with 9.59km, cut as many corners as possible. I mess up my u-turn a bit, so might have added a bit of distance.

https://web.42race.com/race-bundle/pocari2024

$25 for 2.4km, $30 for 5.0km. I am going for 5.0km one. It's an evening run, so decided to go for it.

Yeah the cups were too small. The marshalls at the end were also not very good at directing.

What they could've done is let the walkers go off first. Runners take the timeslot after the walkers, so they can end the run better. This is actually what Bizad Charity Run did, they let fun run (5k) people go off first.

And it wouldn't be a problem because the 4k route is different and separate from the 10k route.

Last cup stand was bad, I finished my cup and passed the empty cup to the lady who isn't holding anything, she asked me to throw the cup at the dustbin.

I usually throw the cup at the dustbin but I was just too tired at that point.

threshold pace is fine if you're running >1 hr. It's a race after all, so it's normal to run at higher HR.
When i reached the water point, the 100 plus, one guy gave me a roughly cut bottle neck and gave me to drink and told me to pass the roughly cut bottle to him.

But if take grab or taxi, at least I think my side (southern) about $30 to $35
so not worth it,
yeah I don’t think we can even take bring our mobile for such run event.

I bring my own water bottle and run with my vest.

Also bring an energy gel but I didn't take it.
Bro, I wore the running waist bag.
also one small water bottle.
luckily got small water bottle, if not, jialet, very thirsty after Run.
but disappointed as no more mineral water bottle to all runners and the water point , no paper cups.

the rest are ok…

So if cannot bring in phone, then I need to depend on my Garmin watch to playback my Spotify music liao.

If I took the first MRT to Tampines South n change Taxi would be cheaper but it will be very tight to make it b4 7 am

Unless I take grab directly from my house in the west which will cost me about $40.

Interesting that all different brand GPS watches' readings are pretty close. ...within the margin of error coz everyone's line is different.
But not super surprising since that area is pretty open and not too forested ba.
You should see SCSM marathon on STrava, can range from 40km to 45km. The CDB district is the killer of accuracy. Also on STrava, some people got their best 5km or 10km PB within the CDB district, which obviously are wrongly attributed.
The Skechers route are pretty open, except the Garden by the Bay, which has some shelter. and the barriage, so everyone should have distance within 300m(agar agar) of each other.

Yes, the drink points are not well organised.

I just take a sip from the bottle without my mouth touching on the opening.

Actually if you bring a bag, you can deposit it in the bag station before your run. I think should be foc.

My Venu SQ2 lousy one. No option for threshold HR zoning only can use max HR %. Got consider Coros before but dunno if better.

For runner, go for Garmin Forerunner Series.
Agreed, should go for the forerunner series if running is the main focus. I used to own a Garmin Forerunner 935, and it has zoning by Threshold. It even has a LTHR test workout, so you no need to search youtube.

Too bad 6/6 sales over yesterday. The 965 and 265 was prices at $690.xx and $522.XX respectively after all vouchers in at Lazada.

I am using Coros pace 3, very happy with it. I turn on their Dual Band GPS, for accuracy. And they have their proprietary foot pod which cost $147 before voucher. Foot pod is very useful if you decides to train in pace zoning rather than HR zoning.

If lazy to do LTHR test, right now Coros and Garmin has auto detect LTHR base on your many months of workout. Not very accurate, but passable. Like Coros detect my LTHR as 154bpm. But you see my Skecher run, I think it is likely closer to 160bpm.

8-10k is optimal. Workout, eat enough food/proteins.

Beyond 15k is wasting the muscle gains. Workout, lose muscles. Workout lose muscles.

Perhaps it's possible with strict diet and discipline. But diminishing returns based on my experience.

Somemore after doing 15-21k, lesser time and energy left for workouts.

Last time when I did the longer runs, was still athletic build muscular but definitely not as well-cut as the 8k stage.

LActate Threshold Heart Rate test. Once your know your LTHR, you can do HR zoning by LTHR instead of Max HR. LTHR zoning more accurate and realistic. LTHR zoning is a true fitness base zoning, as you get fitter, your LTHR get higher, and thus your zoning will also change with your fitness. A well trained runner can have their LTHR up to 90% of their MaxHR, while a sedentary person LTHR can be a low 50% of MaxHR.

LTHR test is based on average HR over a lap period of 1 hour or 30mins depend of test protocol. And hence a optical HR can be used for this test. Unlike doing max HR test where you are reading instantaneous reading of that couple of points, that requires a Chest Strap. Optical HR perform poorly with one or a few times points reading.
