Singapore tough to train for long distance because of the heat and humidity, not that easy to find motivation to clock the mileage.

Those brief times I got to jog in cold overseas damn shiok and much easier to run faster and further during training.
Sometimes need to have a bit of discipline and pick the right timing for long distance

Currently I use Garmin DSW with Race Widget to train for marathons, I put all my long runs on the weekends, sleep earlier on Friday and wake up earlier on Saturday to get the runs done in the morning before the sun hits.

Once the sun hits the nerf is intense. I can see 30s/km shaved off my normal easy pace cause my heart rate just shoots straight up for that pace.

Looks like local scene still going strong......2024 still got show.

Haha headfi is just last month and I spent money on IEMs :s13:

But on running, spent a lot of money on shoes also :s13:

400 miles liao replace shoe, sometimes less than 6 months I hit that mileage and retire the shoe already :s13:

I have been training running under the sun for the past 2 months. Signed up for Lazada run and planning to run Bangkok later this year. Probably would be hot and humid for both so trying to condition my body to be able to function under those conditions.

Shoe as long you don't buy the latest and greatest not that ex. Asics past season shoes can get below $100..

Headfi still ok, hifi is the one that can really suck money. Thankfully I am contented with my setups liao.

Just went ahead with it. A lot more to do to get back my pace.
My last 13km best was 1:16:34 with a pace of 5:53.

My 10km also exceeded by 18min. My best was 50min

Haha sometimes I see steep discounts on Puma shoes so I bite :s13:

Deviate Nitro 2 for 79 was a no brainer instant buy

Can I know where do u usually hunt for the Puma discounts? Been wanting to try on the Nitro series but have never seen any local discounts. Indeed $79 for Deviate Nitro 2 is a no brainer.

Puma outlets sometimes will slash prices aggressively for outgoing colourways very quickly, can also try look for it in JB running shoe stores also

I think rn the Velocity Nitro 3 is under 100 for a number of colorways, not bad

Can check out the outlet at West Coast Plaza if convenient.

Otherwise the price of Puma from Amazon Japan is really good.

Thinking of choosing magmax over superblast 2 for my long runs. How is the magmax doing for you?

Bought mine in January 2025 (when Puma SG finally brought it in after my persistent questioning), clocked about 200km (about 1/3 life gone).

I use it mostly on long runs and recovery runs (5:30/km to 7:30/km pace). Surprisingly responsive and very stable despite the height. Weight is not something I really noticed, even against the very light Deviate Nitro Elite 3. My legs don't feel like utter trash after doing long runs (15k and above). Less narrow compared to other Puma shoes.

But best to try and see the initial feeling yourself in the store. Shoe very subjective sometimes need a leap of faith (which fails on me sometimes like the Kiprun KD900x)
