Follow 80/20 principles if you are not on structure workouts. 80 easy by feel, 20 hard by feel. Even non runners longevity experts like Peter Attia are advocating this way to stay healthy and injury free.

You ever said that you used to have insertional Achilles tendinopathy and cure ?

How you do it ?

If worried about your heart, just take any screening test. That is the best that any older exerciser/athlete can do. And also do your general $170+ one every year....i just did mine and shared the results last week.
I think if you hit 65 got govt super subsidised ones....like my parents are doing, but then i am not that age yet.

If retired liao and SG ones too costly (they can range into 1.6k for the most comprehensive ones), go BKK or MY to do. Melaka quite popular. Then enjoy holiday there also.

I only dare to push simply coz i have nothing wrong that is detected.
56 this year.
Still, i prefer shorter events.

edit - actually i have 1 medical issue, age-related macular degeneration, the nerve / spots of my eye that is degrading.
And also long sightedness.....that one LLST just use bifocal lenses.
Nowadays i have some difficulty in reading off my monitor @ work (and that is a 27" monitor)
I can also barely use my mobile phone. :frown::frown:
Not say cannot see but then i struggle a wee bit to use Paynow and TB app on the mobile phone.

Not me. Didn't go for any therapy or inserts.
My Achilles tendonitis was healed with higher drop and firmer shoes for running. Reduce mileage and slowly strengthen the tendon via progressive incremental mileage. I really reduced to 2 km and then slowly increment day by day.

I recommend you to do a LTHR threshold test. Then calculate the zone based on your LTHR level (aerobic fitness level).

These zones will be personalized to you and more accurate. Using a generic age to calculate do not take in account of the personal fitness or his natural max heart rate level which can be very different for different people of similar age.
how do you do personalised LTHR? Stadium?

Then, we can alter the HR Zones in the app?

Either do it at a lab which will be more accurate, or do a field test yourself which gives an estimate which I feel is good enough.

A running loop where you can run hard for 30 min non-stop will be sufficient. Run hard at an intensity where you can sustain for 30 minutes. I recommend not to overly aggressive during the first 10 minutes since people often over estimated their capacity. Take the average of the HR of the last 20 minutes as your LTHR (lactate threshold heart rate) and use that to calculate your zone.

Most app allows users to manually set their zones.

Cycled from Clementi to national service resort at Changi. On the way back started to rain. First time experience cycling in rain lol

Rain water very corrosive. Splash the chain with clean water then use cloth to wipe. Apply chain oil after a few hours.

VO2Max 36 -> 44.7
Increased by 21.5%

Quite a bit more than the 5-15% that you commonly come across

Did tabata yesterday. Sprint 150m and slow jog 150m and repeated cycle non stop for only 5 rounds. Age is really catching up. Young time can do more rounds and shorter sprints without even feeling want to die.
