yea but i wanna do a stopover in Europe to visit friends.

I notice SIA has 2 flight to US that stop over via Europe.

SG - Manchester - IAH

SG - Frankfurt - JFK.

Just wondering if it's possible to do SG - Frankfurt - IAH?

I think it is possible for the following routes using Star Alliance Award Chart:

SIN-FRA SQ or LH (Lufthansa)
FRA-MAN LH
MAN-IAH SQ

or

SIN-FRA SQ or LH
FRA-IAH LH

There is a stopover charge of USD100.00
You may need to call Krisflyer to book since stopover is involved.

Try to call them. Get your dates and flight numbers(if you have) ready before calling them.

From what I know, there is no direct flight from Houston to Winnipeg, you have to go via Chicago, Denver or Toronto by United Airlines or Air Canada. Both are member of Star Alliance. I think you need to buy or redeem as separate tickets.

Both should be able to redeem under Star Alliance award tickets as long as there is only 1 stopover. If you are stopping in JFK then you need to buy the ticket to YWG.

If you are returning to Singapore within 1 year and have enough miles, you can redeem round the world award tickets.

For example:

SIN-FRA-NYC-CHI-YWG-YVR-TYO-SIN
SIN-FRA-MAN-IAH-CHI-YWG-YVR-TYO-SIN

SQ has no such route as such it’s not a stopover. You will need to use a lot more miles than SQ to Europe as you will need to use partner Airlines LH.

Yup thanks i just called... and holy... they quote me 140k miles for business class.. i was like...it doesn't make sense.

I would rather pay 92k miles + 400 bucks for SG - FRA - JFK - YWG.

I tried to check to redeem a one way ticket from London Heathrow to Singapore business ticket on the Kris Flyer website redeem calculator but it shows that there is no such route to be redeemed.

Am I doing it the right way?

Hi guys. Sorry. Let say I booked a flight


SG-Frankfurt-new York.

I’m thinking of changing it to

Taipei - SG- Frankfurt - New York. Cause it’s only a few k extra miles. But I realize SIA flight from Taipei to sg is on waitlist but the partner star alliances is available with same amount of miles.

Can I do a combination of alliances + SIA. Will it be higher compared to purely SIA? Tried calling but on hold for an hr....

I'm traveling in Nov. This means the promo I have to watch out for, will be in Oct. I'm pretty flexible in terms of where to go. Have a few destinations in mind. Dates are flexible for a few days +-. Not sure if it's worth redeeming a biz class on Silk Air. Nepal is one of the destinations in mind.

I'll fly biz back to Singapore cos of the baggage allowance, if shopping at the holiday destination. Usually from Singapore to the destination, luggage not much. Don't have to buy luggage on the budget flight.
