Again, all these are bw terms hawkers sign with open eyes.

Now using social pressure to wriggle their way out.

You just need to read 1 line.

"It's not the hawkers duty to feed the poor and destitute. If you cannot afford a meal, please see your MP for help."

Seetoh and his band of merry hawkers are equally the capitalist your hated landlords are.

Don't expect them to drop their prices simply because they pay lower rents.
Don't say this, these hawker need location to do their business, they can't do street hawker like in other country. They want to survive they need the place, so they pretty much helpless as PAP set the limitation with these SEHC

Is there a list of govt officials who started such predatory "public good" schemes, benefited greatly from such predatory schemes, then safely exited such predatory schemes, leaving their predecessors to take the rap?
Or are currently in the midst of doing so?
you go search see how many of these private enterprise is run by "Grassroots", relationships to MPs and even to ministers.

PAP gov is using taxpayers money to build all these hawker centers and then letting in private companies to raid all the profits - increasing cost on hawkers and ultimately increase prices for Singaporeans.
Same for SMRT, taxpayer money to build the tracks and SMRT just operate and doing a terrible job

LOL this whole SEHC started with Amy Koh since 2018 . At that time, many MPs alredy raised questions regarding the viability of this hawker centre model and it's impact on livelihoods of the hawkers. Fast forward 7 yrs later and it seems like nothing much has improved...NEA better wake up !

Amy khor really know how to use word salad....

Dr Khor replied that the phrase "social enterprise hawker centre" that the media has been using may be a bit of a misnomer, adding: "We actually started by saying socially conscious operators."
This refers to operators who know that if they tender for these hawker centres and run them, there must be a social mission, she said.

She also said some reasons for looking at a new management model for new hawker centres are the inherent challenges in the hawker trade - ageing profile of hawkers, manpower constraints, and the evolving needs and tastes of patrons.

None of the phases got meaning when put together 🐔

KF Seetoh also used to run a food court ya?

Or is he still running one?

Wonder if he imposes any similar clauses in his tenancy agreements with his tenants.

If Edward chia has a social conscious, he should really step in and restructure the whole shet

You can say he has stepped down, but come on this is a livelihood that affects thousands who don't have bargaining power

Not all politicians are bad, they came out with this with good intentions but as the forest is decaying, time for rotten eggs to be picked and shamed

Xiasuay for our hawkers to have heritage value but exploit by bad sheep operators

who managed timbre ?
is any MP involved in the group?

Maybe it's time to relook at whether MPs and Politicians can be directly involved in any company dealing with govt. If it is almost all, then so be it. You want your profits, you dont join politics.

Just wondering which businesses that MP & MP family + grassroots members own?

And we are supposed to take as truth what a person posted, when he was wrong just a week ago on a similar matter?
From what I can find from NEA website and news article, it is likely correct.

NEA post open tender to manage a hawker centre. I open a XYZ company and I bid $1mil to manage the hawker centre for 1 year. I win the tender, NEA pays me $1mil.

What is not clear is the hawker stall rent. Do they go into NEA pocket or XYZ pocket.

Sinkies ... really clueless siah ..

I agree. This Edward Chia has been incredibly silent on this issue over the past few years. All he keep saying is he not part of the group anymore.
