how to enable the nivida and disable the intel graphic card for Y580 - i7-3630/FHD/ thank alot guys

The eeboot optimiser just keep repeatedly run and repeat everyboot until I have to endure a cancel and reboot everytime I start up my com. Other than That gaming is awesome but gets quite toasty after an hour especially on the left side

Coz the exhaust fan and exhaust pipes are on the left side. Ever tried placing your hands near the exhaust vent? Tried before. Air flown out feels warm, but not hot enough to justify the laptop's temperature at 85 degrees when performing heavy duty stuff like rendering.

Get the Y580p full HD (1920x1080) laptop. Best bang for buck! Prob with Asus N56 is that no full-HD version available locally. So HD version pricing not worth the specs in Asus N56.

Asus N56 FHD model coming in Mid Dec to End Dec.
But graphics is still GT650 2GB DDR3,

Lenovo Y580 GTX660 2GB DDR5 is at least 20% better in performance.

this model also sells like hot cakes in china, you can see it on taobao, the i5 version is around 1k SGD or so over there.

Anyway, anyone know why when i changed the HDD to SSD and did a restore using the factory default discs i ended up seeing only 91G of space on my 120 GB sandisk extreme SSD? It's supposed to have 112 G usable, windows and lenovo progs should take up about 30G or so at max, but how come i end up with 59G available space on a 120G drive : (

Dun worry. I also did the same thing as u. My Sandisk Extreme 120GB shows up as 96GB after format (check under right click My Computer >> Manage >> Disk Management.) So my solution: buy a msata 256GB SSD to fit into the empty msata port beside the HDD slot in the laptop and install OS on it, let the Sandisk become storage space. Else sell away the 120GB and invest on a 512GB SSD. I still waiting for a good price for msata...

AH! thanks for the advice. I see i see i was worried that the lenovo setup somehow didnt wipe the SSD of the previous OS and thus it showed up as a paltry 59G : (.

Yup i was going to go with Msata till i saw the prices.. can't swing it yet haha.

Hi, am pretty new to the Y580. You mentioned that there is a m-sata slot bear the HDD. Does that mean we can simply install a m-sata ssd card and still have the stock hdd installed?

I am also interested in knowing the performance of this laptop in terms of games. Hopefully, someone here plays SC2, and test this machine if this can handle the "Extreme" graphic settings ( at least for a 1v1 match ).

This seems to be a pretty good deal to me
