no one using Windows 8 Pro? ;)

ok i just upgraded.

USB 3 problem?

USB 3.0 Fix
If you're USB 3.0 hard drives keep getting disconnected or is not running USB 3.0 do this:
1. When you install the Lenovo Power Management, open it and turn off the hard disk drive power saver option.

2. After that select the USB 3.0 hard drive, right click and select properties -> Hardware -> Select the USB 3.0 drive -> Properties -> a pop up will open then select Change Settings -> Select the Policies Tab and then set Removal Policy to Better Performance then ok.

Shut down Windows 8, remove your portable USB 3.0 drive and boot up then plug the USB 3.0 drive again.

Is it normal?

got a question..
when the battery is low, the y580 will turn off the laptop right? However, I noticed that the power button is still lit.
even when I plug the laptop to a power source, clicking the power button does not turn it back on.
I suspect it is either sleeping or hibernating, but how do i wake the laptop from that state?

normally when the my laptop is in that state, it will wake up when i give it a input either pressing on any key on the keyboard or mouse click using the touchpad. I dunno which actually works coz i just spam crap until it works so try both!

When battery hits below 5%, it will auto turn off. but the power button will still be lighted for a while. means time to plug in power source. Close lid (if u set your settings to hibernate when lid is closed) and the power led will soon go off. plug in AC power source, and press the power button again to power on the laptop. The laptop at this point will do a system resume and continue from where u last were before battery ran out.

The problem with Lenovo (sigh)...sometimes I have to go thru this painful process halfway thru my lectures...then desparately hunt for a power point or hang helplessly thru the rest of the lecture...

Hi can i know if changing ssd for hdd void the warranty?
Technically yes. But u can bypass this problem by keeping the OS in your HDD and swapping back to that original HDD before u send for RMA. Lyk this, how can Lenovo tell if u actually modded the parts inside if u put the originals back into place for them to 'see'? :D
