No. Only got SMS alerts if you enable them. Also got no cutoff if you exceed.

Also M1 charges $10.70 per GB over the allowance so your friend probably exceed 30GB+. Most likely his plan has a 75GB allowance.

Had to fight M1 on a $550 bill for this very reason. End up paying $40 for that month.

Interesting your SIM still reports as TPG instead of SIMBA. Anyway you're connected to SIMBA's capacity band (40) which means you will get faster speeds at home.
Dun care which band.... as a customer, I just need good or usable network. Will use Simba for awhile, if no good will move to another.

I suspect 5G is not even properly implemented in SG though telco claimed to have so high percentage coverage and 5G technology and problems from Nokia are just inferior.
They should have gone with Huawei 5G equipment, but Huawei was left out because of ‘national security’ concerns….

We had no choice but to keep our status as a trade centre. We cannot take any sides until things are more clear on who's the winner. Somehow we had to agree what the gov does.

for normal usage, video watching on youtube/facebook/netflix, is 5G better/faster than 4G?

i think these activities are the most network intensive for mobile phone usage when I'm outdoor.

dont usually game or download big files when I'm outside.

Recent plans do not have capped usages already. last time before the price war, there's was a price cap of around $188.32/mth (approx 17.5GB based on $10.70/GB).

Btw, current M1 plans comes with $11.99/GB overages, or $11.2056/GB without GST. To exceed by $336.30, he probably exceeded approx 30.01GB. therefore his plan is likely to be 80GB SIM Only.

Did you subscribe to m1 5Go Vas?
Yes I did. And I called up 1627, and was given the list of compatible devices, which is iPhone 13 and above. Do note this is a 5g SA aka standalone.

I was able to get 5G with my singtel, but I reckon there is some differences in the network and thus my iPhone 12 pro doesn’t support 5G standalone

SingTel and StarHub have 5G Non-Standalone Access (NSA) alongside 5G Standalone Acces (SA). M1 only have 5G Standalone Access network.

You're connected to SingTel 5GNR NSA network on iPhone 12 series.

That makes sense. Perhaps looking to get a newer phone.

the default APN doesn't give you 5G on M1 - quite stupid right?

go edit the sunsurf APN, put 65 as the username and user123 as the password

should work now. if cannot, try forcing 5G with *#*#4636#*#* and select "NR only"
