I just activated my Data Passport for Japan (before 3rd May). My trip will be in Mid May. Hopefully the price still remains as $10+$2

This is the FAQ:

Data Passport - Japan, Softbank

Effective 3 May 2016 :
1. Preferred network will be changed from Softbank to NTT DoCoMo.
2. $10 Japan Data Passport will not be available for new activations (activated $10 Japan Data Passport will be removed on 31 May 2016).
By activating the $10 Japan Data Passport, you have agreed to activate voice, SMS and data roaming services. You have also agreed to the removal of $10 Japan Data Passport on 31 May 2016.
Monthly subscription of $10 is based on bill cycle date and will not be pro-rated.
An additional monthly charge of $5 will apply for Multi-SIM users (if applicable).
One-time activation fee of $2 applies for each Data Passport activation.

Data passport for Japan- increased to $25

OK. It's 3 May now and M1's website has been updated to show Japan under the list of $25 destinations, so it's not being dropped from data passport. Still worth it if it doesn't cross the billing cycle, but unfortunately, my trip in May (21-29)will cross my billing cycle on 22/5. I won't be using data passport because it's not worth it ($27 + 25 = $52).

I think I will go for Yokoso SIM which is the next best option for me. It's $39 for the 15 day sim validity option at qoo10 but with coupons and Qpoints it can be brought down to about $$34-35:(

Obviously, M1 is closing the price disparity between what the market is offering for the prepaid data sim and M1 data passport.
And I suspect Japan is likely one of the most popular selection.
For $27, it is still reasonable though.

$25 still reasonable but as someone said, can't cross your billing cycle unless they can find a way to revise it.

For 27, it's still cheaper than buying there.
But why raised so much!

Anyone using data passport under docomo has any issues connecting to 4g? Seems like only 3G is available, unlike SoftBank which was always 4g

hope this help anyone who are intending to get the data passport.

called m1 this morning to activate the m1 japan data passport and was told no more, and only can apply for the 25$/day unlimited data.
but i still went ahead to register for it via *123# and received the confirmation sms.
then i called again to talk to another operator to confirm that m1 japan data passport still available.
so in summary - IT IS STILL AVAILABLE but just is $25+2 now.

Leaving for Japan tomorrow and new cycle starts today. so just nice for me.

I used the application to activate it.
So do remember to deactivate it when you are back.

There is 2 telco for japan in the M1 passport.

which 1 to use?

one is softbank
one is ntt docomo

gg japan tml...
Just saw that the thing is no longer $10 .. so sad

Is it still worth using data passport or is it better to get a SIM there?
