M1 is giving worldwide daily roaming plan at $0.99 , however there is this clause of monthly roaming bill of $4.95 on top.

This is the most uncompetitive clause .
Anyone activating the world wide roaming plan and getting the minimum $4.95+daily charge($0.99).

Dumb marketing strategy.

this is more like a service fee. Times are tough and they need to earn something, because other telcos are giving so much roaming data, and they are trying their best and also not to hurt their profitability.

People have plenty of readily available roaming options to pick. Roaming service quality is controlled by the roaming countries hosting Telcos.
If I just travel for 2-3 days, why do I pay for the $4.95 NRE ? Discouraging strategy will not work.
M1 postpaid roaming subscribers will be going to be lesser and lesser by this dumb strategy.
I did not use M1 data roaming services for the past 18 months due to their unattractive/ more costlier than Singtel/ starhub service.

well. I think there is still plenty of their loyal customers. Same goes to Singtel and Starhub customers who stayed loyal to them despite so many sub-brands, MVNO's and Simba 4th telco.

I've seen and heard a lot of people who still stay subscribed to Singtel, M1 or Starhub, as they do not believe in other brands and are afraid it might be closed down or not stable.

And another set of loyal customers, who have their CIS plans with their telco, every 2 years sign a contract and get a new phone. They stayed loyal and get new phones every 2 years as their company paid for their monthly subscription.

Loyalty will dry up.
I am ok with M1 local service, $15 CIS plan, just for roaming I will subscribe to other online data roaming providers which have much more affordable plans till M1 wake up their ideas.

Tested the online service providers with roaming esim data plan for Japan , Australia, USA, Malaysia. It is so easy to use.. Choose a plan, make payment, email with the esim setup information..
Once a person tested the working alternative, what do you think that people will pay for the loyalty.

The bad thing is they activated it and no way to disable auto triggering...

Singtel is also offering "unlimited" (1GB full speed) MY roaming at $8 for 5 days. Instead one could get the eight $8 plan for the same price and enjoy hundreds more gigabytes at full speed for the same price. You could also get a local sim.

Willing buyer willing seller. There isn't any law forcing m1 to match competitors.

The Worldwide Daily Passport sits alongside M1’s older Daily Passport, which charges S$2.95 to S$8.95 per 24 hours for the same 3GB, depending on the destination tier, plus a flat S$4.95 monthly subscription fee in any month roaming is used. There’s also Data Passport, which lets travellers use their local data allowance abroad, with the pricing varying by destination and typically starting from S$15. For short leisure trips or vacations involving multiple destinations where travellers want simple roaming plans, without a recurring subscription, the new 99‑cent Worldwide Daily Passport would be an attractive option.

Didnt mentioned that new plan have $4.95 charges just mentioned "along side"

It's bad cause they auto trigger activate even with data roaming off on phone..
