Try right clicking and select eject? It should be the dmg mounted drive, can be removed once you are done installing.

Another question : Just installed VLC on my new MBP, then there is this VLC "hardrive" logo appear on my desktop. Anyway to removed it ? When I click it, it just bring me to the folder where I install VLC.

That's how you are supposed to install any applications in OS X. What you do is to open that folder, drag the VLC icon into the application folder, then drag the "Hard Drive" icon into the trash. At this point, the trash bin should turn into an eject icon.

Macbook and Samsung Kies

I have successfully installed Samsung Kies onto my mac book. Each time I try to open it the software, I get a message that says "The Application Kies quit unexpectedly". I have tried the following methods suggested by the Samsung and apple hotline customer service.

- checked the version's compatibility of kies and macbook
- completely uninstalled kies and reinstalled many times
- created a new user account and downloaded successfully but failed to open kies

My Macbook is no longer under warranty. Do you think that it will be worth going to the service centre?

No point bringing it to service center because it is obviously not a hardware problem. It is a software problem, and it is the copy of Kies that you have. It may be corrupted, for one, which is what I suspect the case to be. Either inform Samsung about the corrupted software or find some other means to obtain the software.

Thank you for your advice. It is really helpful in isolating the problem. I have e-mailed Samsung regarding kies software. Hopefully I will be able to sort it out. Thanks once again!

Use a moist lint-free cloth to wipe the keys until the stains are removed. Don't use too much water because it's going to spoil the keys.

Run software update. Make sure you're up to date.
Try fixing permissions and see if the problem goes away.

Permission fixing is one of those really important maintenance you have to do from time to time. Download third party applications such as ONYX, and run some maintenance (such as permission fixing) from there. Do that once every few weeks and your computer will be running at tip top condition all the time.

Or go to Application, Utilities, Disk Utility. Select drive on the left, select First Aid button, either select Verify Disk Permissions or/and Repair Disk Permissions. Onyx is useful, but I'll use it for automation rather than a single task.

Did u do a search in 'spotlight'?

If u have another web browser, u can download here

if not, run your software updates and choose 'install all'. let me know how it goes..
