even if it's same model and same specs it may not work. i heard before the cds are produced in weeks, so your friend has got to buy the same model, same spec, and around the same time for it to work.

i think recovery is okay to run those recovery apps

but not installing leopard all over again. sorry if i misinterpreted.

Just copy the entire Music folder out. Worked for me, from Tiger or Leopard.

Just make sure your iTunes version is at least the same version as it was before you attempt to launch iTunes (particularly of importance in system formats with manual restores)

System Preferences -> Security -> General: Log out after n minutes of inactivity (Un-tick it)

time machine on mac : HELP

hey guys, new mac user here,
i connected my new ext hard disk to e macbook and time machine popped up askin to set it as the default backup disk.
a few erroneous clicks later, i'd accidentaly deleted everythin in my ext hard disk n set it as a time machine backup!!
the PROBLEM is i want to use it only as an ext hard disk so i can put select files frm my mac AND my desktop into it. how to i revert?
any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks

btw, it was a WD 160gb hard disk, n all e install progs etc inside are now gone! zzz

the format of my time machine external hdd is FAT32, is it? coz i copied my whole iTunes folder into the extra space in the ext hdd, and pass it to my sis for her to get the mp3 to copy into her windows laptop, but she can't read the disk. format not compatible?
so what if she pass me her ext hdd, should be in NTFS format, not sure, can i copy my mp3 in my imac into her ext hdd?
