How can I make sending/receiving files via Adium faster?

I dunnoe why it is very very slow if i use either Adium/amsn. However I do not encounter the problem when using Skype. Can anyone help?

OK here is how it 'works':
When the battery is charging, the MacBook will ask to turn off after few minutes turned on. Say 10 minutes. The strange thing is when the battery is full charged, it will works as normal. Either that or you remove the battery, it will also works fine. Only when charging then it happened.

Besides that, it also asks to shutdown on and off during normal operation. 1 time is when I use Space and the other time is when I am using Firefox.

Wanted to do format-reload, couldn't find the got damn OS DVD

Could it be Software updates and requires you to restart or shut down? Personally, I don't have such problem with my sister's MB or on my MBP. Maybe you might want to try optimize your battery. I'm not sure if it helps since it's the battery problem.

Use your battery complete 0%, let it sleep till the blinking light doesn't blink at all, then let it full charge.

Now me draining off the battery. At the same time, I tried to update to 10.5.5 but failed leh... Download combo install also cannot mount the dmg file. Said what check error...

Correct liao. This is the screen I see very often lately. Coild it be after AppleJack huh? I performed all of those tasks 2 weeks ago. Oh ya. Anyone kind enough to let me borrow the MacBook OS DVD for recovery? Don't know where I misplaced mine liao!!!

cannot be apple jack coz myself is using that also running all option without any problem ,i am using "applejack auto restart" meaning run all options and than do a restart.

It's very unlikely AppleJack caused the problem.

A Kernel Panic is usually hardware related, often due to faulty RAM (lose?), harddisk developed bad clusters (age), short logic board (ants commited suicide) etc.

Frankly I don't know how I would fix it except perhaps try to reformat and reinstall the OS. Meanwhile back up important data and stop using it to prevent really serious damage!

Call Apple and ask for a replacement DVD; pple here don't seem to like to lend it.

Thanks for the advise. Probably will try to re-sit the RAM. Hard disk seems OK from the check performed by AppleJack.

OK, yesterday drained off the battery. Then put it to charge. OS turn on 2 minuted kernel panic liao... Later will re-sit the RAM or remove/swap them see can cure or not. Otherwise think really have to call Apple liao.

Wah Piang, it seems like 1 of the RAM module problem leh. The 512MB stick that bundled with the MacBook.

By the way, why do they apply those white color 'cream' on the RAM huh? Until so messy like that

If you have an external harddisk u can install os x on it and boot your macbook from it... then find out how to replace the harddisk.

... or maybe ask SGL to help you install one.

i have the problem of the flashing question mark at start up too. I've tried holding option key and "C" key nothing helps. I've also inserted the startup disk it spits it out too after like 10s.

however i got a external hard disk with mac osx installed in it.. its inside a hard disk dock (USB)
can u teach me how to boot from the external hard disk?

Well, who said anything about Option+C? It's C *only*. Also, you are suppose to insert the dvd before you attempt to boot into it. Needless to say, the DVD must be the one that came with your Mac or else it'll get spitted out.

To boot from external harddisk... mount the ext hard disk first, then goto System Preferences -> Startup Disk & select it. If power is off, press and hold the Option key right after powering on... and select the ext harddisk from the swee swee selector.

seems like its a common problem.. can recover my stuff inside my HDD? worth to go for a diagnose 1st? how much does one HDD cost?
