hi all!

my question's regarding onyx:

onyx mentioned that i need to repair my start-up volume using the OS X repair DVD. but before i proceed i would like to know if there's any chance i would lose any files from my macbook.

what could be possible causes for my volume to get spoilt or damaged? and why is it that i can still use the macbook normally?

If afraid, back up your files before doing.

I get that often, usually can tell when the macbook very sluggish. Some sorta file structure error (can search yourself?) , but use the disk repair fixed the volume, everything ok, no files ever lost from this activity. Just treat it like "car servicing".

There's alway a chance you might lose files, but you must still repair your harddisk *immediately* to prevent further damage and stop losing even more files. The "files" may not be your data but crucial system files required for the OS to operate. It's no joking matter. Fix your harddisk *now*. You are lucky you ran Onyx or else you might not even know your harddisk needed fixing until it's too late!

It's always wise to use Oynx's Maintenence mode regularly (you decide the intervals) to keep your mac in tip-top condition.

Hardisk error could be from many reasons... improper shut-down, force-quitting, poor handling of your mac etc. Just be nice to it.

Yah, it's a piece of cake to replace Mac Pro's ram. RAM's instructions is even printed behind the lid! Open up and see for yourself now.

You just make sure you get the right RAM. Go to SGL with your specific Mac Pro model to buy... the shop's cheap. Don't bother wasting your time asking the usual RAM sellers in Sim Lim Square. Most of them will think you're trying to haolian that you own a high-end Dell Server machine that they have little knowledge on. Tell them it's a Mac Pro and they'll be even more dulan you for coming to suan their little shop. Ha ha ha.

hello, ive been trying to connect to the internet on my mbp by using the cable straight from the modem..
but somehow can't get the DHCP settings from starhub. i've also tried the network diagnostics, but still cant get online

now im plugged on my pc, and the internet is working perfectly.

any help appreciated

Hi currently I have a macbook which have 2 drives, 1 is OSX and the other is windows.
Some noob questions

1) Does the windows inside the other drive consider boot camp?
2) If i want to reformat windows only how do I do it? (got some pesky virus in windows that i cant seem to get rid of)
3) When I am in OSX platform, will the virus be spread to OSX when I access the windows drive?

Are they basically plug and play on the mac? Or do they require drivers?

Because i just got this esata expresscard from simlim, and the drivers that came in the box were only windows drivers.

Hello. I'm selling my 1.5month mac soon and wish to delete everything / restore to factory defaults. I have not tempered much, but took some photos and surf net. Any quick method to do that and to ensure that future user wont retrieve any of my information? Eg username, surf history etc.
Need urgent help, I'm quite mac illiterate.

Is there any program or way i can find out what exactly is my hard disk space used for? I'm using a 250 gb hd and i've already used 100gb. 46gb for movies and videos, but where has the other 54gb gone to?

I only installed aperture, office, photoshop cs4, adium. Can't be so much space gone. Haven't even put in music or photos yet

Blackmel, what is disc pop and how to reformat? Will reformating cause mac to become inferior? Sorry I'm mac illiterate..

Just pop your restore disc in and follow the instructions provided. Nothing wrong with reformatting, not going to hurt your Mac. Do remember to backup before proceeding.
