Accessed photo folder but no photos inside.. took the first shot when it was 1st started up.
And is any other method to delete all the data (other than trashing) without reformatting? Will there be any embedded data that's not cleared if i don't do reformat? eg wireless information, user name and some setup information.
Wish to present to buyer a cleaned up mac, with sys that starts up as if it is new, is that possible?

If iSight refers to Photo Booth, there should be a folder in your Photo folder that stores those photos.

Mel was refering to the "Pictures" folder. In it you'll find a sub-folder, Photo Booth which is where you phots taken with Photo Booth are kept.

Didn't you see the little "x" under your Polaroids? Mac noobs will will know intuitively that's to delete the photo. It's as simple as that.

You're selling something so simple to use becoz you cannot give up your pc mentality of thinking-too-much and to delibrately complicate computing is a darn shame for your welfare.

my 6 month old mbp's batt health is 91%. besides calibrating it, and using the charging method in the faq, i dun think theres anything else i can do. my charge was 5194 a few days ago and now its 4994 i am afraid i am gonna lose my batt! I wonder if mac will still produce the old battery now that theres a new form factor?

Calibrate again. I had this experience before when I calibrate once they battery sort of drop, but I calibrate again, the % went up. Do it once a month.

And yes, I could not give up the PC mentality yet as am using it for more than 10yrs. I do not have a guy's endurance and curiosity or even a technical mind to learn from scratch a totally new concept. I would love it if I could. Also read that there are some software like microstation and autocad that are not quite compatible with imac. It would be better off with a more honourable owner. Dont you think so?

I guess it differs from individual to individual.

I've been using a PC since the good old DOS/Wordperfect 5.0->5.1 days of 1990 or 1991... I also assembled my first PC from parts available at Sim Lim back in 1995. Was dabbling in a great many OSes just for the fun of it through those years.

Had a G3 mac running OS 8/9 but never really used it much. Got my Powerbook after NS, before I entered Uni, and when Apple switched to Intel and my PC died, I made the switch for real.

Never looked back since. You always have the reasonable option of running Boot Camp for software that's really needed. But it's really your call and your decision, so we have to respect that.

A large part of my OS X foundation came from Unix (notably FreeBSD/Linux) experiences.

hi, my question is,

1) If i have a original window xp installation disc with cd key, but it has already been installed and validated on a normal computer, can i still use the same cd key and disc to install win os on my macbookpro via bootcamp? Or must get a rand new cd + cd key? Or just a new cd key will do?

U open up task manager/ computer management & see the options there.
under Disk options. [formatt]

cant elaborate much. been awhile since i used windows.

Installing XP in Bootcamp

Hello happy campers,

a good day to all.

I have installed an original Windows XP in Bootcamp on my 2yo Macbook and have run my company applications without issues.

I am trying to replicate this on my new 2.4Ghz iMac, but have met strong resistance (perhaps the iMac is more resistant to the horrors of XP?)

When I load my company CD (application) into the optical drive of the iMac, it takes ages to recognize the files, and freezes eventually when I click on the exe. file.

This never used to be an issue on the Macbook.

I have also loaded the latest Bootcamp Update 2.1

I wouldn't mind doing a full reformat on the OS X as well.... perhaps someone could tell me the cleanest method to installing the XP?

I'm using an external esata enclosure harddisk drive, which was formated in Windows vista.

I connected the harddisk to my mbp using an expresscard.

The harddisk shows up fine, and i can copy stuff off from the harddisk.

But why can't i copy stuff ONTO the harddisk, or delete stuff off it?


Same problem for my usb 2.0 hard-drives which i used to use on windows.

Do i have reformat all of them in mac osx or something?

Your external drive is probably NTFS formatted which is mounted as read-only in OS X.
There are workarounds for this and all information can be found in the FAQ (sticky).

i dunno if this has been asked, but is it possible to format an external harddisk in fat32 format using mac osx? onli results from my search from the apple faq and this thread is tt i have to connect it to a windows pc and format it through there..

now my external hdd is in macos extended format..
