Hi all, I'm intending to purchase the new 2016 MBP 15in. I did substantial amount of research and read about the keyboard sound issue. Is this issue happening among Singaporean users? I'm thinking if I should hold off my purchase and wait till they resolve it or till the 2017 model is out. But I do not think I can wait any longer as my 2011 MBP 13in is getting very slow and laggy with terrible battery life now..

Why pay premium to get the iMac instead of pc other than the looks?

Learn to use an unix system. That is one reason. Learn to use an OS besides PC. That is another reason. If you are always standing outside of something, you are just a bystander. Until you are into something, then you will truly learn what is so different about it. Why should your life be only limited to one OS? It is a solution, it is a product and it is a tool. :)

Macbook Aluminium Late 2008.

Hi All. I'm new here.
I would like to get some advice here whether is it advisable for me to upgrade my hard disk to solid state hard disk to make my laptop faster? My memory is only 2 GB at the moment. Or another way is to trade in my MacBook at Nubox?
TIA.

most of e time e bottleneck is e storage so SSD is e best upgrade n make sure yr SSD has big enough capacity esp if yr ram is low. on e other hand yr ram is 2gb it sounds like a really old Mac so maybe time to change to a new one?

Thanks bro. Currently I already bought a new MacBook pro but I feel kinda sad to see it not utilize that much. The Mac Os has also been upgraded although it is hardware limited. I thought the 2GB ram can utilize the SSD space as a virtual drive although I am not that sure for Mac. I know for sure Windows can.

Thanks again bro.

All unix systems today by default utilises the secondary storage, SSD or Mechanical HDD, for virtual memory. Mac OS X is a unix system, so it will do just the same.

SSD may be a lot faster than mechanical HDD, but in comparison to the onboard DRAM, it is still slow. DRAM operates in hundreds of nanoseconds(10^-9), SSD operates in hundreds to thousands of microseconds(10^-6). So we are comparing in magnitudes differences of thousands between DRAM and SSD. If you are lacking in memory for what you want to do, SSD will not save your day. It just make your day slightly better versus a HDD.

You will enjoy performance gain when you first have sufficient DRAM consumption, then you will feel a more snappy system comparing between SSD and HDD.

Modern OS today will cache frequently use data into the memory, so if you have insufficient onboard memory, what you will find lacking is data will more frequently be read from the hard disk instead of serving from the memory directly into the processors for computing.

yes that's y I mentioned yr SSD shud have enough capacity for MacOS to use as swap once e RAM maxes out. u can just use e old MacBook for something else. like I use my old one as a Kodi box connected to e living room TV...
