Where is best to purchase mech KB now huh? Like Ducky / Filco etc?
taobao.
they sell cheaply for mechnical kb. but not sure for duckly or filco.
maybe u can tell them whats your budget, form factors : full size, 10 keyless or compact.
and the color of the switch (even though all kb using different type of system.)
Ducky and Filco are about same or slightly more on TB actually.
only local brands are cheaper on TB, and good start point for your mech kb journey...
I've used both Ducky and filco before and I prefer the Ducky. Filco feels slightly dated and has no Nkro when Numlock is on using ps/2 at least from my experienceBudget would be somewhere $150+/- to $200 max
Full size and preferably brown switch maybe red also can..
I have been on Ducky Shine 3 for 2years+ and its basically only for my office work use... Now wanting 1 for my PC gaming use.. Kinda' keen on the Shine 5 but also wanna try out Filco..
Or you have any others to recommend..? Don't mind TB ones but dont know which to go for as they are all local house brands.. Haha..
you should try topre keyboards.Budget would be somewhere $150+/- to $200 max

Heard of it and I thought that Topre is more of a typist keyboard...
What's good about it uh.. ? Care to enlighten?
Thoughts on AULA wings of liberty mech kb?
CM has a NovaTouch which is meant for both gamers and typists alike. However, they had already discontinue with the product. Whatever that's left (realforce, leopold, HHKB) in the market is kinda costly.Heard of it and I thought that Topre is more of a typist keyboard...

i'm currently using my SA Industrial with it.. and I don't really think it's a good idea. The feel of it basically changed ever so slightly, and for NovaTouch, i would suggest to put on the o-rings that were provided. It really does improves the feel of it to quite a large extend.^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
didn't know they stopped the novatouch, still have one almost brand new, took out to test working.
still hunting for a set of keycaps, can't find anything worthy. Hahaha...
I didn't really try typing on the novatouch yet, but I think I understand what you mean, with the conti car example.
AlvinDJ:
can check out the first post, I shared some links to check out the ones I got from taobao.
namely a Team Wolf, and a Varmilo.
Thanks for the great inputs!CM has a NovaTouch which is meant for both gamers and typists alike. However, they had already discontinue with the product. Whatever that's left (realforce, leopold, HHKB) in the market is kinda costly.
The feel of a TOPRE keyboard is just very much different as compare to a MX. Some people love it to bits, while others hate it. I'm a convert from MX (blue/brown/red) switches to TOPRE and I love it. I'm planning to get my second TOPRE for office use soon.
YMMV though.. so best is to give it a shot before buying it since it's going to be very costly.
P.S: I realized i didn't really answer your question. The feel of a TOPRE key is just so different.. it feels heavy with a very very satisfying "THOCK" with each key press. Some describe it as closing the door of a conti car, as compared to a jap made (cherry MX) and I kinda agree with them. The feel and sound of it is just so damn satisfying. You can try searching for Topre keyboards on youtube to hear how it sounds like.
