hi guys can anyone explain to me why my speed is so slow?

I have bbom and i'm using my w910 as a modem.

My bbom plan is 7.2 d/l and 1/5 upload.

I know the w910 only supports up till 3.6 mbps.

The problem is i have never ever gotten close to even 3mbps using this phone as a modem.

The highest i got was like 0.8mbps and that's on certain times of the day. There are times when i get like 0.2mbps.

I have used both usb cable and bluetooth to connect.

Well, depends on your area, and you might want to try another phone or a regular proper modem.
BT has been always slower than using a cable, from my experience.
Also you would get better speeds in the wee hours, so do your testing when you can't sleep, late at night to be sure the network is not the variable slowing you down.
On weekend nights, after 2:30am.

The thing is using the usb cable also produces the same sort of speeds on the BT.

One more thing. Are u guranteed a faster speed with a modem compared to a phone even if the phone is a hsdpa?

burger, what plan are you on?

racerguy, I've only ever signed 1Mbps because back when I signed for both ST and M1, the infrastructure was still relatively new and untested. However, I have tried M1 1Mbps on both modems and phones (Samsung G800, Dopod 838Pro, Samsung i617) and all could get me the max 1Mbps for my plan. So try to check your area first. Perhaps you can look at the list of areas in the first post, find one that is nearest to you, and pop by for a quick test (if you have a laptop/netbook). If you're using it on a desktop, then I can only say good luck.

Btw i want to ask those of who got high speeds. When u tested your speed were u in a high building?

Let's say u tested it at home and maybe u stay on the 20th floor for eg.

I am thinking is the speed also due to how high u are cos if u are at low places maybe other objects like u know trees, lamp posts block the signal?
