Call and they reset already. Asked me wait 5-7 mins i think i started it earlier and speed did not improve.

M1 has shown the most improvement in their network, partly because their starting level was very very bad. ;p
Their support for flood pings have improved a lo, now just waiting for improvement for more concurrent connections (if you open multiple new connections, such as opening a whole folder of links in Firefox without caching, you'll find that connections will hang).
Sometimes, I think it's their image cachine server that is slowing things down. Often I will see some page waiting for the annoying 172.x.x.x IP.

Yup, very reliable for me and my colleague. Starhub one is only good for non-peak hours, during peak speed drop to 10%....WTF man. Singtel one no idea, never tried before.

Hi, so M1 is still using 172.[16-31].x.x to rewrite webpages for caching? Personally, I think this is a very bad form of HTTP proxy. Do they still aggressively re-compressed images? When they first started, I couldn't get pass any form of captcha because of this. I have since avoided them completely but not sure if things have improved and by how much. When I complained, the CSO is totally clueless, saying that the IP is the remote website. I don't know whether to cry or not.

Just to share, I am currently using ST and SH. Despite all the speedtest results, ST BBOM give me the best overall experience (1Mbps 50GB plan, tethered using iPhone 3GS). SH, as usual, will throttle me during peak hours (MOL Plus, 1Mbps, unlimited, tethered using Treo 750v and Huawei E220/E1752). Still good, just don't try to download anything during peak hours, webpages are fine. M1, I have not used them for the past year, for the 2 years I'm with them, it was like half of the time unusable.

Not webpages, only images.
It's not a bad form of proxying, just bad implementation. If they improve the performance of those proxy servers, then should be more seamless.

As for the preference for each telco, it really depends on area. M1's coverage seems to be reasonable nowadays. The days of extremely poor lagginess are far and few, and getting less frequent since I started using them in Mar.

okay guys i decided to use another telecos prepaid BB to test it out.

I'm thinking of using M1 since someone here mentioned starfug will; lag during peak hours.

The thing is i think i reached close to 3mbps i wonder when will i ever experience 7 mbps.


OH yes the pages don't load properly.

Like take this page for eg. Many of the icons don't show up.

Well, IMO, it's bad form of proxying You don't re-write webpages to force browsers to contact your proxy servers for the static images, period. They could have spend some $$$ and get a _real_ transparent proxy setup and re-compress the static/dynamic images in-line if they really want. Anyway, thanks for the feedback

Generally, all of them will lag during peak hours, far as I know. Just how bad and in which area.
As for the image-related problem, only way to get around it revolves around 3 terms - "SSH SOCKS proxy".
If you know, you know, if you don't, sorry, it's something you've gotta do a fair bit of researching on.

That's using a tunnel well doesn't solve anything.

That's the reason why i terminated my M1 broadband after 1 mth of usage.

Images (and occasionally pages with erorr 404) don't load properly.

Cannot sustain large downloads. e.g Download of files will typically get cancelled for no reason when i download 200mb files from Rapidshare or other file-hosting websites, even though the Internet connection is ok.

M1 does not have a proxy server. Starhub and Singtel do.

I have tested the above problems at home, in my workplace and town and they still persist.

Their Mifi device is problematic.

Went back to Starhub. No regrets and i've been downloading gigabytes of files without any disconnections.
