Tbh, poor move to split bill esp if juz $40. I always pay the bill on first date whether girl offer or ask me out. Juz reply they can pay for next meal or drinks later and you can see girl's response also.

It's 1 thing when girl offer to pay and when you ask to split bill. Split bill usually = not interested and maybe even wasting time so don't wanna waste money also.

There are some trolls with big egos who hide behind online nick and name call others simp or say split bill or go hc (unless girl suggest) so don't waste money/can find out if girl is gold digger etc. If you don't differentiate them and some sincere posters (offhand I remember some eg @f-o-f! @Spike @Ethan_ @oOBubbleOo @coyote @immortalgamerz @MoeLanYong) even if I don't agree sometimes coz we all have our own values, pov plus I know the situation better, else you are juz gonna screw yourself up.

Overtime I realize most trolls are bitter coz rejected/ghosted by the wrong girl they choose. If you talk to real friends offline, usually they share sincere povs.

Most impt is before deciding to date a girl, juz need to open eyes wide to see what a girl is really like (and need quite abit of time) to be potential mate. If you really like and v gd girl, go all out so you don't regret next time or else don't date.

$40 per person is quite alot leh, and I dont feel good saying that they can pay for next meal because it is like pressurising them to go out with you on a second date and makes you look despo

My first date with my future wife, i offered to go upscale restaurant at MBS. Nowadays would have costed $100/pax. I was a simp and i wanted to impress her. She declined and we sat at the music fountain outside MBS to talk instead. Total cost of the date, $4, for bus and MRT fare roundtrip.

That's the thing. If a woman is really into you, she will not want you to spend money, because she wants you to save for your future together. The date is for you to talk and get to know each other better. The food is secondary. It's not the focus of the date. If a woman gauges you by how much you willing to spend on her, then you know that this woman is mercenary. She will go with the highest bidder.
Congrats bro. U found a gem. Chio not first?

Dosent it mean the girl genuinely wants to know the guy and not just out there for a free meal?
Copy pasting one of my previous replies:

Not necessarily. In fact, this is quite rare. About one in ten, by my outdated guesstimate. It's usually not worth the girl's time also. Ask yourself, do you want to spend 2 to 3 hours outside the house, with someone you don't really like, just to mooch a $40 meal? The ROI is pretty low. Only the most cheapskate of women will do this. Usually if the woman is making a foodie call, the bill will be a lot higher then $40/pax, to make it worth their effort.

If a girl expects a guy to pay, she could honestly subscribe to traditional values and traditional gender roles.

Or she could be a fake feminist out hunting for a simp to be her lifelong partner. She's genuine, in the sense that she genuinely hopes to find a life partner out of this. Just that she doesn't want a partner who will be her equal, but one who will be beneath her. Your willingness to pay for the first date is one of the signals she wants, that indicates that you will be pliable, and a possible simp candidate.

Dude very few women are interested to waste 3hrs just to mooch $40 worth of food. Stop worrying about this. What you should be worrying about are the ones hunting for a provider while refusing to submit to him.

If you felt it's "a lot", you shouldn't have gone there.

A first date is essentially a meet up between two people who barely know each other. And statistically, the chance of the date blossoming into an official relationship isn't high. Why are you having such an expensive meal with someone you barely know? Even if she pays her own, you still have to pay your own share and that's taxing for you too, by your own admission.

But being generous and offering to pay first is part of being a guy as dictated by society. If you don't want to play the game, then too bad. You kpkb also no use.

Exactly. Don't tell me they can't afford to pay $40 or feel a pinch. Now many women are working too, can provide for themselves.

Can juz say they can pay for the next meal if you all are meeting again, no pressure then. End date on gd note. If $40 to you is alot, then don't suggest that place/meal, go for more affordable one.

You old liao haha. Splitting bill on first date is indeed the norm for younger generation now.
Just go ask your nephews and nieces. Times have changed. More and more young people are strongly rejecting traditional gender roles. Type 1 women are pretty common nowadays.
Many older ones apparently don't believe in gender equality shouldn't complain if WC hits them one day.. since they voluntarily gave up their right to equality right from the beginning

It's some guys pwn guys by paying meal for a stranger when clearly it's the first time you both meet. Transactional relationship starts from there.
