Not sure what your point is. I’m speaking from my own experiences. And because the other guy said SG women, so I’m just sayin this kind of thing doesn’t just apply to SG women. It is pretty much international. In general.

And of course there are women that offered to pay or split, Asians or not. Women can practise equality sure but sometimes you also need to exhibit some EQ. Not scared this scared that afraid to lose out with that $40. Come on.

My point is that times have changed. Feminist ideas that originated from the West are increasingly common here and in the rest of Asia. There is no need to compromise on principles and debase yourself just to get married, though i also won't fault those who choose to do so because they are desperate.

Seriously no one asked you choose an ex restaurant for first date. You can just choose a coffee place or a cheaper place la. And just offer to pay. If a girl is reasonable and not 贪小便宜type - first, she will not choose an expensive course, second she will offer to pay for her share, or suggest she pays for next meal, or suggest she pays for dessert at another place.

If she doesn’t do that, you know roughly she’s what kind of person. Isn’t it good to know early?

You'd be surprised. In america, a 2024 survey found that 44% says the one who earns more should pay. 36% says it's better to go dutch. Very few will say the inviter should pay, or even that the man should pay. And nowadays, it's increasingly common for the woman to be the one who earns more, especially since women under 35 have a higher median salary then men their age. Their salary only falls behind after childbirth, because they have a two years lead in the job market and go to university in greater numbers.

And i'm not sute if you paid attention to AMDK couples in MBS and other locations in SG, but it's very common for the man to be empty handed while the woman carries a lot of things. They advocate true equality, at a level asian females aren't prepared for.

Facts.

I briefly dated a Swedish-Thai girl and insisted on paying for her share because I was in loser Singaporean simp-mode. She actually got angry with me when I forcefully paid for our first date, saying that in their culture it's kind of rude to assume that she cannot afford to take care of herself and that dating should start off on equal footing. After that next date she jitao paid for everything. This was a real taste of gender equality, and it actually felt good.

I also dated women from our neighboring countries who expect men to pay for everything, but in return these girls were very sweet and sayang, like 10/10 gfe. Here I tasted what it felt like to be THE MAN in a traditional provider role, and it felt good too.

After these experiences, okay I think SG dating is a massive downgrade. In SG 95% of my dates expected me to treat, but gave little to no gfe. I go for friends' weddings and more often than not I hear the stupid "your money is my money, my money is my money" joke being bandied around by the flatchested or dinobu women there.

In SG you get the worst of both worlds. Sinkie women want the benefits of gender equality (higher salary, stronger voice in workplace, politics and social settings, more household decision making power) without the responsibilities of gender equality (sharing financial burdens equally, NS).
