After testing 2 days with 1Gbps downloading.. it is nothing short of awesome.. I assigned 8gb as ramdisk and downloading 8 files at a go with IDM I can see my speed fluctuate between 300-500MB/s..

Downloading four 1gb files only takes less than 3 mins..

However, when streaming is concerned esp china sources.. LeTV/Leshi/sohu etc.. totally CMI when my friend's MR 100Mbps connection is a lot more stable..

And to make things worse, I can't connect to any VPN server when it was working fine with my previous ADSL connection.

thank goodness i don't access china sites

and its more likely China site allocating more traffic to chinese/HK IP address.

I'm in exactly the same position. Received call from MR some time back confirming 1gbps installation this Friday (28Mar14). However, haven't received any email or SMS confirmation since then.

1.Tried calling the hotline but no one ever picks up.
2.Tried using online chat, but all operators offline.
3.Tried sending PM to Nivelek1985, but no reply thus far.

Can be really exasperating. Should I apply for leave or not?

Same situation here, verbally told OpenNet installation on Friday morning but no official email received so maybe MR can get off the hook easily if the appt. somehow hiccup. Seems like this Friday quite a number of installations for some of us in this forum, wonder how many of us will have no show, hope I sm not 1 of them lol.

If we are on an existing 100mbps Pure Plan with contract ending in Oct/Nov, are we not able to upgrade to a Gamer 1GBPS? Is that not considered an upgrade of plans?
In same situation, not sure what to do next. Maybe switch to VQ in advance to avoid any downtime due to upgrade

I was one of the victims of the no-show. Imagine if you took leave and no one showed up for the appointment.

Calling MR is an exercise in futility because you can end up waiting for 30 minutes (happened to me before) but no one ever answers the phone.

Sadly I am fully expecting another wave of no-shows, and months of delay.

Can any bro with 1Gbps plan & a Samsung Galaxy Note 3 help me out here?

Do you have a problem with upload using WiFi on your Note 3?

I can't seem to upload anything to Dropbox and the phone always 'hang' during the upload portion in Speedtest :(

No issue during download though, with speed around 200+ Mbps on 5GHz.

I have also tried uninstall all suspected apps (like avast) with no luck.

Thanks.

Don't take leave first, better insist on black & white to protect yourself for any dispute later on.

Installation date before contract ends = upgrade

Installation date after contract ends = recontract

Which is exactly what I presumed it is but I just checked with them CSOs, that is unfortunately not possible, they do not see that as an upgrade more like a re-re-contract.

They do not allow me take up 1GBPS Gamer plan, I am on 100MBPS Pure at the moment. I was insisted that I can only take up non gamer 1GBPS plan.

PS: My installation date is this coming Friday 28/03/2014 yet I still can't really get a definite answer to why I can't upgrade to 1GBPS Gamer Ultra. As usual was promised by one of the CSO that someone will contact me because my case is "strangely unusual" and that was a few days back.

Contacted MR this morning and confirmed my appointment for tomorrow is cancelled, was told that OpenNet cock-up because the cables are not enough for my area and the installation is on hold indefinitely until OpenNet add more lines/cables at their end.

I doubt the reason given by MR because OpenNet will check their resources before they confirm appt., it cannot be OpenNet only go down to the exchange on the installation date a day before just to find that they have no more available connection port. It is likely that MR committed the appt. date themselves 1st in order to grabbed market share and to appease subscribers who are making noise that they are still not on the 1GB connection.

This saga really shows much about MR commitment to their customer and now I am open to another ISP when my contract expired.

Wow, that sucks. My appt is tomorrow as well, better call in after lunch and confirm again.
Possible to share which area you're staying at?
