TX401 will step down@ PCIe 2 X4 @ 2 GB/s which is still sufficent for 10Gbps (1.25GB/s) NIC :

Note: CAVEAT: PCIe Lanes on a Chipset Can Be Shared on your MB 2nd slot ;)

Metro ethernet/Active optical ethernet (point-to-point) is definitely more expensive vs XGS-PON and costs more to scale up. MR 10Gbps monthly subscription is one-third of SI/VQ's.

  • Customers who sign up for HyperSpeed 10Gbps or GAMER 10Gbps can enjoy the 10GPON trial, subject to MyRepublic’s discretion in determining the starting date of the 10GPON trial. The 10GPON trial is valid until 31 December 2023. However, MyRepublic reserves the right to, without any prior notice, modify, extend, suspend, or cease the 10GPON trial (in whole or in part) immediately and at any time, without further liability on MyRepublic to customers.

It might simply be the server has insufficient capacity to let you test at full speed at that time point. The host server must have enough reserve bandwidth and the data centre must also have sufficient capacity. The speed test app shows MR and another 15 servers having the same distance, so it is likely that all of them are in the same building or data centre, if everyone reserved 10Gbps just to allow 10Gbps users to see the 8 to 9 Gbps download speed which has little productive benefits, they will be hogging 150 Gbps to 200 Gbps bandwidth at the data centre which is not utilised 99% of the time. So, I guess to even see the speed you want, it is a matter of luck and is dependent on whether are there excess bandwidth which they can free up for non-priority tasks like speed tests.

As far as I know there is no USB 3.2 to 10Gbps ethernet adapter (no matter it is Gen 2 or Gen 2x2).

You can only get Thunderbolt 3 to 10G Ethernet now.

If your laptop has Thunderbolt 3/4 port, then you can buy the 10Gbe Ethernet adatpers mentioned in the above URL or in this thread. They are not cheap though.

If not, you may have to get a Desktop PC and buy a PCIe 10Gbe adapter. PCIe based 10Gbe adapters will be cheaper than the Thunderbolt 3/4 based 10Gbe adapters.

Or you can get USB 3 to 5Gbe adapter as a temporary solution. Example:

do not buy 5Gbe that will net you 3.5Gbp due to overhead
either you get the 2.5Gbp or the thunderbolt to 10Gbe or if you are on desktop just get TX401 on amazon

The problem is i never buy from non local seller as i am worry i may get a spoilt one. I prefer to buy from Local Seller so there is warranty on the product. I have thunderbolt 4 on my laptop. This 2.5G is everywhere.
