1 No, Maxx is postpaid so you are not allowed to port to prepaid line.
2 If parking your no. is your priority and regardless of data, SMS and call. Just retain your Maxx line and do not buy any plan and let it become Base Plan with monthly 200mb, 10min out call and 50 SMS. It is free and renew monthly as long as you use some data or make 1 call or send 1 SMS every 90days.

Do take note that Maxx had removed port in option in its app. So you may have to port in via authorized retailers or online straight away instead of getting a new Maxx no. and port in later via app. Authorized retailers does not require to provide CC info so rolling into Base Plan after 30days of 1st paid plan expires is smoother.

My two cents: Singtel 4G is deteriorating since 2023 so no point to increase the customer base of 4G.

With the shutdown of 5G NSA, they can also shutdown some of the 4G Core (which serves both 4G and 5G NSA customers).

M1 Maxx is fully 5G enabled.

StarHub giga is mostly focused on 5G.

Now Eight (StarHub subsidiary) also starts to be more focused on 5G.

Even SingTel Prepaid is now focusing on 5G.

The new StarHub (Star) Prepaid plans are all 5G, but it is a postpaid plan with the prepaid name.

4G speed should be quite good actually, the underlying situations definitely is due to 5G NSA and manipulation of 4G speed. Don't conclude too soon till 5G NSA shut down and see whether telcos will reinstate its 4G glory or continuing handicapped it to encourage 5G adoption.

Good point, I also find out that I could not remove my M1 Maxx credit card from M1 Maxx app for my newly done online sign-up.

Since this M1 Maxx plan is a new number for testing and not for number parking, I do not have a real issue. I will port out after one month or two months of testing.

I look at it different :
Heya never seems to fit anywhere if you ask me. The closest is prepaid, but also not exactly.
Singtel 4G degrading is part of the plan to push users to the 5G.
Singtel don't see where to fit Heya into this plan, since they already have Gomo for 5G, and they already have an army of MVNO to start with, so might as well let it die a natural death.

Heya had its role, it was used to provide similar package $10-$12 like Maxx and Simba then. But after ST had decided to use its MVNOs to compete, it had decided not to be too competitive as Heya may really competing against its MVNOs. So since then, it became very dormant and therefore the present demise.

First class - MNO 2yrs Contract Plan
Biz class - MNO SIM Only Plan

Economy class - The rest of the MVNO

Somehow M1 and StarHub Business Class seats do not seem to be popular.

SIMBA Business Class somehow is worse than the other airlines' economy class.



Singtel Heya seems to be below economy class.

dunno about how the process is handled now, but when i called in to remove credit card and cancel the recurring payment on my online-signed-up number, they immediately cut the plan even though i had already prepaid for it for another 1 week ie, i was on base plan 30min after the call ended.

so, if you wanna call up and cancel recurring payment, do it near the end of your month's plan.

For my current testing plan, I am going to port out M1 Maxx to SIMBA by end of December. Then I will play with SIMBA for one or two months before terminating.

I will keep Eight S$8 per month 4G plan for longer.

There is a possibility that I will give up Eight and keep M1 Maxx though, if Eight Roaming in China is bad compared to M1 Maxx for my short trip to China next month.

Two questions.
1) Is it 5G enabled? If with free 5G, I think it is actually not a bad replacement for Heya.
2) Is it at S$10 per month for users migrated from the Heya S$10 per month 4G plan? Same as port-in user.

2. M1 prepaid plan: still the traditional prepaid-plan. The top-up is not cheap for data.

M1 Maxx plans probably offer much better value for both number-parking use case (M1 Maxx Base Plan) and regular data use case (S$10 per month 5G plan) than M1 Prepaid Card.

3. The new Starhub (Star) Prepaid Plans are the most confusing one, it has "Prepaid" name but in reality are a post-paid plan (up to 10 lines and not three lines). The main good thing is that is is 5G enabled and with 120 days grace period. Data bundle is not good. My daughter is using it -- Starhub Prepaid S (automatically upgraded to this plan from the existing Starhub Prepaid card), S$10 per month for 80GB. Initially I wanted to port it out but later think it is actually not a bad plan to keep for my daughter (secondary student) as she does not need much data.

For regular data usage and larger data usage than 80GB, then Eight may be better but Eight 5G is at least S$14.80 per month now. Eight 4G at S$8 per month is cheaper but 4G speed is really not that good with Eight 4G.

4. Comparison of Singtel Hi! post-paid plan with Starhub Prepaid Plan (also apost-paid plan even with the "prepaid" name).
If you compare Singtel Hi! S$10 (port-in)/S$12 per month plan, and Starhub Prepaid S at S$10 per month and Prepaid M at S$15 per month plan, the only question is whether it is 5G enable or not. If yes, the S$10 (port-in)/S$12 Singtel Hi plan is kind comparable with Starhub Prepaid M plan but cheaper (better value).
