IMHO.
I see the Zym usual plan got one is $10 but is 20GB.
If they offer $10 for 50GB with no lock in, still can consider as they are Singtel.
TPG biggest pitfall for me probably is connectivity and throughput. Price is ok.
My frequent location indoor usage speed is TPG 40dl 10ul and Heya 60dl 25ul.
In the end I choose Heya. Both is actually suitable for my location.

Hi all, those heya users, can I get some advice if it's feasible to use it as a mobile broadband SIM card for home-based internet (via mobile 4g router)?

Seems like the download speed is not so good...?

Am currently on 500mbps fibre with Singtel but going to cancel it soon as my new place has no landline or fibre point.

You need to test the Heya Speed at your location. Then make a decision. If you have many people sharing the wifi. Then obviously Heya 4G wifi router may not be suitable in a long run

I'm staying alone in a room (like a hotel room) so it's a really small area to wifi around. just my phone and my desktop. so I'm thinking that maybe those 4g sim card wifi router would suffice... just not sure how the download/upload speeds are.

I don't watch heavy videos, stream movies or game. just normal internet and maybe light youtube videos and stuff.

is 50gb plan enough? seems like heya has 100gb plan for $10.

The speed depends on your location. Like my location, I get maximum speed of around 121 / 21.

Heya.SG plan now actually 50GB for 30days The promo now is 50GB+50GB = 100GB for 30 days.

The main advantage is that if you finish the 100GB, let's say in 10 days, you can pay another $10 to get another 50GB+50GB for another 30 days. The is no contract period for Heya.SG.

Does your hotel room have an open window? 4G need open window for better connections. So depending on your testing speed too

yup there's window. no surrounding buildings blocking as well in general as I'm on elevated ground...

I deciding between heya (Singtel) and circles.life (M1)...

I googled that 30gb per month should be enough for normal household internet usage. so 50gb should be okay bah.

but worried if there's any cap on download/upload speed after breaching certain data levels.

Heya is so far so good for me but I’m planning to switch over to the new Vivifi $10 plan soon once I’m about 1 week away from the plan due date.

"30GB a month enough for normal household usage"?

I just reinstalled my firewall from scratch, and pulled this up. Almost 40GB gone on the first day. :s13: And that's not my peak.

For data, you pay for both downstream and upstream. There is no "Free incoming data". Don't forget your laptop/computer has updates too, and many things expect always-on connectivity. So it's likely more than 30/50/100GB a month if we're being honest here.

Pulled up an old screenshot. One day's data: 109GB. You can easily see the pattern of data usage per day. And for reference, there's usually only one computer (mine) on. The rest use phones.

take note you will miss out on VOLTE and data rollover, and you may not have roaming (even after promo code) given that you port in from Singtel Heya

oh my.. thanks for sharing. my reference is probably very outdated.

in any case, I don't stream movies, play online streaming games or watch videos a lot on my desktop, so I should belong to the lower end of the spectrum right? anyway, I do have wifi access to nearby router for most of my daily browsing - getting an additional personal mobile plan is more for emergency in case the wifi is down, but also for some sites which may be blocked by the wifi source.

heya.sg has 50gb + 50gb promo for $10... and can rollover 200gb every month. I guess if needed, I'll have to top-up if 50gb (after promo ends) is not enough...

After reading, still blurr. Sorry to ask noob question.

So, I go to any retailer, get a card with a number. And just continue top up every 30 days.? Or 60days?

IMHO.
Buy the Heya/Data Plan every 30 days.

Base/Main Plan, the expiry is 60 days
Data/Heya
Plan, the expiry is 30 days.
Every 30 days need to buy the Data/Heya Plan. The expiry will reset to another 30 days.
When a Data/Heya Plan is purchased, the Base/Main Plan expiry is automatically reset the 60 days.

If you fail to buy another Data/Heya Plan at the end of 30 days, you will lose all your rollover data.
Because your Base/Main Plan expiry is longer, you still retain the number even though your Data/Heya Plan lapse.

E.g
Buy new number on 2nd May
Main Expiry - 1st July
Heya Plan Expiry - 1st Jun

Buy new Heya Plan on 1st Jun
Main Expiry - 31st July
Heya Plan Expiry - 1st July
