The keywords are "extra 58GB". The logic is that you can forfeit anything after 200GB but u have to give me first and then remove it.

Yes, some people have reported that they have 250GB, so I don't know why you're stuck with 200GB.

Not that you're going to use 200GB, but that feeling of inconsistency can be a bit annoying.

I go by the local SIM way as well.

Like with everything in life, there are tradeoffs, pros and cons for each option.

I just don't like to be stuck in a foreign country and find that my roaming data suddenly doesn't work and I have no backup option.

Yeah, after the phase out of 3G, the playing field is level again with VoLTE.
Advantage now is the rollover of roaming data. I rolled over 2GB.

1GB of roaming data is not a lot, and it's very easy to exceed unless one limits it to WhatsApp and stays away from any streaming of any sort including videos.

Personally I'm not a fan of roaming data; with Dual SIM phones it is far more reliable to just buy a local SIM card. Having a local phone number also has some advantages with ride hailing apps like Uber and Grab.

however, if it's just for a few days(e.g. in msia) and just need to be connected(whatsapp) without watching videos, then it's a good thing.

This I think arises from the TPG thread where I think got people like say 1GB enough to go Malaysia.
Then Heya.SG stun the market with roaming data rollover.

I also think 1GB not enough. Like that go holiday, basically like no internet access.

So just to double-check, I should top up exactly on the EXP date, be it roaming/local data, calls, sms in order to maximize the validity date for every top-up and not lose my rollover?

I then checked *119*1# and the quota sms is below: -

Depends on individual. For me, it definitely won't be enough. I travel solo so everything is on me. From flight/hotel check in, navigation, social media, language translation, payment... I usually hit 500mb to 1gb per day while on holiday and will definitely get local Sim card or travel router everytime. I only need my regular Sim to be able to receive SMS otp if needed.

not wallet top-up, just buy the $10 data plan directly from the 3rd party Shopee retailer. The retailer quite fast in top-up, less than 5 mins
