haha...what i mean ish i read some replies saying they overspend thats why asking for donations so i am just sharing some knowledge on why i think they never overspend because they can't probably overspend since there is a amt that they can spend on each voter(explained in my previous thread)

i am not into the discussion of whether they sld ask for donations or not etc.

Yes, there is a campaign limit like im not sure $3 per voter or something. But it is academic.

We should go from the viewpoint if the expenditure by NSP was necessary. And whether it helped to run a successful campaign or it was simply thrown down the drain.

There are too many variables in an election campaign & opposition parties are not bottomless pits like PAP. They may have not been aware of the final cost, but if every cent was worth it, then I don't see whats wrong with the slightly higher amount spent.

have u listened to her speech...and her media interviews...yep..there might be a tinge of being over-rated by netizens...but she knows her stuff and is able to articulate it in a confident manner...true....she might have won some votes base on her sex appeal and wholesomeness....but Singaporeans as proven in tis GE...are wise voters..and most votes for her i assume are based on her potential and guts...how many 24 year old females have the guts to speak out against goverment policies in front of a political rally..u know..it's easier to toe the line than to step over the line

No. I do not wish to take away any credit from her. She is a good speaker, she has brought up good points. She has a desire to serve.

That is quite different from how the party has behaved.

i think the list was just a laundry list of what was spent on the entire campaign....i doubt very much the 35K would be used to defry on telecoms, transport or even incidentials....

please. this is a list provided by nicole herself. the fact they put it up showed they are serious.

(12) Telecommunications, Transport, photocopying, stationery and incidentals

maybe they should explain what is covered under each expense item. but i believe they are not stupid and knowing how bad it will look on them personally, they will probably try to cover up these expenses.

but i am really interested to know what each of the above expenses represent. they are clearly small amounts which is easily affordable by any individual, let alone working professionals.

not hate lah, if they really overspent reasonably, then list the items lah and supporters will donate. i feel strongly that incidental expenses like telecoms, transport etc should not even be in their list what.

for goodness sake, don't claim for mrt, bus fares, phone calls, incidentals like drinks, food etc. this means they are not willing to fork out a single cent of their own money. again $35K (should be $25K now since gms donated $10K) is NOT for one single professional, its for the whole team which includes the candidates, supporters and volunteers. even if candidates pay for it themselves, only a few $K EACH, which is negligible for a professional. and if they really still feel the pinch, then don't anyhow spend.

looking at how much others have obtained through internet donations, i expect the donation amount to exceed their stated amount.
If they planned the elections as a well though-out project, then they wouldn't be asking for donations at this point in time after the elections.

IMO, they should've asked for donations well before the elections. With that amount, and with whatever each candidate is able to contribute, draw out a budget for the entire campaign with allowances for overruns, etc. The budget should then be watched over closely to ensure that it is complied to throughout the campaign. Isn't this a very normal thing any manager will do? Unless NSP is telling us that there is something not quite right with their management of funds.

GMS donated 10k, so he is into this fight.

The other party members "donated" $7k each into this fight. Not to mention risking $16k initial deposit.

So what is a good price for you that they should be paying? I say 7k is excessive especially for someone like Nicole Seah. If the public can help reduce this to 3-4k it does a tremendous lot of good.

How much did you pay for an alternate voice in parliament? $0. Yet you are raining so much hate on them who give up their own money for this.

Why are you so against this?

What the PAP spends has no bearing at all to this "issue" that TS has brought up. No need for strawman arguments that have no relation at all to NSP asking for donations. Those are for another thread, one which is, fairly, for exposing the shortfalls of PAP.

strange you choose to pinpoint a single para out of the whole chunk of text

like i say...as this election is covered by the local government....it's really difficult to get a multi-faceted view on the election and the different parties....looking at it from mediacorp's persepective..who is going to get more viewers and sell more newspaper...Goh Meng Seng..Hazel Poa or Nicole Seah?

....but i doubt that their motive through this donation drive is to defray cost for everything

then why list telecoms, transport, incidentals etc? these are petty expenses and one can easily argue would have been spent by individuals anyway. if they expect their supporters to spend such petty and necessary amounts to support them, then the professionals should jolly well not claim reimbursements for these petty daily expenses.

Why are people still thinking this is a matter of misbudgeting?

This is not a "Oh no I screwed up please give me money to bail me out."

This is a "I made this show because I think it is important and I have passion for it. All production costs for this show is covered by me. If you liked the show and share the same passion, do chip in some money to help me out with the cost of this production and future productions!"

like i say..tt's a laundry list of all the expenses..and they have just simply added up everything which comes up to 35K...whether or not it's petty....it's up the the different individuals...

WP won Aljunied no doubt with help from Chen Show Mao. But even without him, Low Thia Kiang and Sylvia Lim would still have put up a strong fight and it is hard to say they would have lost without Chen.

Hardly the case with NSP. Who else was in her team? Who was in the Tampines team? Finding it hard to answer off the top of your head?

My point is simple. NSP over-relied on Nicole Seah, plain and simple. They did it to the point of neglecting all other candidates and even Goh Meng Seng did not utter a word to the press after Nicole Seah "took over" media attention.

Perhaps the kicker is this. How sure are you that NSP is not shamelessly trying to gain more votes through sex appeal?

Without LTK & Sylvia, CSM is nobody! Keep on selling CSM like ko yuk.

Perhaps if you stayed in Tampines, you would not keep making excuses for NSP.

i agree, even the much maligned amk team asked for donations before nomination day.

indeed, this donation saga does not augur well for nicole seah party in terms of planning and managing the election budget.

what irked me was not so much their incompetence but it appears they wish to be reimbursed for even incidental expenses.

Fortunately for the social media channel or too many will still be taking our newspaper reports as the face of reality. In a way, Nicole Seah has been highlighted until the point of revulsion for some people that they ironically discredit her more than they should.

So the source of all your hate is that they listed out "petty expenses?" And you are ignoring that they actually put up their own money for this and don't expect to get everything back?

You can be sure I will list out all this "petty expenses" if I'm claiming expenses on a job trip. I did spend them for the job anyway, regardless of how you feel about me claiming such things.

You know how petty you sound now?
