Updraded mine note 3 to Android 5.0 a few days ago. Aft 2 days use, noticed battery drained faster than Android 4.4. So i did factory reset, have been using for 1 whole day since, battery noticebly last longer.

Yes, very clean. So make sure backup all important stuff.

How to backup all stuff before doing factory reset? I hate to reinstall all the apps and reconfigure the settings and apps and widgets on home screens. Very tedious process compared to using iTunes for backup and restore. Phone is not rooted.

My notification sound is still whistle even though I changed it to others. Have not done any factory reset after the upgrade.

Use Kie3, there's backup/restore. Besure to tick selection before backup.

Why no more new notification icon(whatsapp, facebook, etc) shown on status bar at top left corner when the phone is locked? Only After unlock, then can see them.

Edit : after searching online seems this is an known "change " on lollipop 5.0. Many complains, why here no one else mention it?

Using the default messaging app?

Launch the default messaging app
Tap on the left capacitative "button" next to the Home button and select Settings
Tap on Notifications
Check the Preview message option

There you go...

:D:D:D

Cheers!

Thanks, but I'm referring to the general notification icon (anything, could be new facebook status, new twitter, new apps update, etc) on status bar when phone is locked.

For me, still no lollipop.

Tried my wife's Lollipop Note 3; discovered the feature of the S-pen (with pen button pressed) and touch the screen to take a screen picture is not there now. This feature is extremely useful as there will be a bar option of write, highlight, draw and even crop before you can send to others, or simply 'share' with other apps.

looks like i have to do a factory reset... candy crush lag (pause 1 or 2 second during play), FB also pause 1 or 2 second when scrolling... sometimes the touch key light off (even thou me ALWAYS on)... :(

hate to factory reset... the very last resort...

by the way.... my playlist in default music player.. will it be restore (i back up in kies3) after factory reset? (hate to add song one by one)... another headache is the SG buses app... my bookmarks will be gone when factory reset.. have to add in one by one too.... coz can't seem to find the data file of this app....

Ya I also hate doing factory reset. Mine is bluetooth not auto connect with car phone. So doing it this weekend too.

Maybe try to use backup/restore apps as a secondary backup for the SBS apps.

I hv yet to hv my lollipop but during my 2 years of using Note 3, I did a few hard resets (or factory reset the same?), i.e. pressed and hold together the power, centre and vol + button together and wipe the disk n reboot.

I find after doing that, my Note 3 worked like brand new, no lag and also allow me to decide which apps to install, those I need at the time.

Also, of late, I hv removed my ext. micro-SD card. The storage 32Gb is more than enough, I find the retrieving of files noticeably faster.

Just my sharing while waiting for my Lollipop to arrive... :)

Bob
Waiting for Note 5! However, if Note 5 cannot change battery, will buy Note 4.

Factory/hard reset are the same. You will get a fresh set and experience again.

Over lunch time, drop by a Samsung shop, check with them about lollipop upgrade. They discovered my Note 3 s/w version is only 4.4.2 and hence it needs to be upgraded 4.4.4. before I can get Lollipop. The guy also mentioned that it is possible that some chips inside my phone is faulty and hence I did not hv 4.4.4.

Not to find fault with this guy but can anyone verify this?
