I too thought like wts2013.
However,if one were to purchase just the Plus Card now, the patronage rebate will not be given (as pointed out dreamboy). (Fairprice shares no longer sold)

The reason why wts2013 (or me) is receiving the rebate is because of we have bought the Fairprice shares (at $1 -allowing max 1000 shares to be sold).

http://www.fairprice.com.sg/webapp/...talogId=10051&content=Members_FAQ&Corporate=Y

As the rebate is given into the plus card when used, that is why we thought rebate is given as long as u own the pluscard

So you found the "missing Link"? So now you know how to have a Plus Card which can earn rebates? So no need NTUC Union Membership also can earn rebates and linkpoints right?

You need to fairprice member to enjoy the annual 4% or 5% rebate on total purchases during the year.

Now not sure how to be fairprice member.

I think you need to be union member or have ntuc life insurance policy to be fairprice member. But now I think max number of fairprice shares is 20 only at $1 each. When I bought insurance policy many years ago I also bought fairprice shares. I bought 1000 shares then and with bonus shares now got more than 2000 shares.

If you get because of insurance policy, the shares will be re-purchased from you when the policy expires or matures and you not longer a member. I no longer got insurance policy, but managed to retain the shares cause I joined the union just before my policy matured. My wife's policy matured and her 2000+ shares were repurchased by fairprice. That's was an oversight on my part.

Besides, linkpoints and annual rebates and dividend, fairprice or union members sometimes get additional upfront discount on certain purchases which public doesnt get.

how to apply this NTUC card?

by the way, $1 for 1 share & total share able to purchase in $1 is 20 shares. If wish to buy 20+ shares above, how much is it pre share? :)

If a person pass away, how to claim the shares?

I probably got my NTUC Link card via my insurance policy. However I am also paying the $9 as a union member. Can I quit union membership and yet retain the supermarket rebates that come with the Link card?
Same question. Can anyone help to clarify this? I have ntuc vivolife insurance after I joined union member. If I stop being a union member, can I still use my link card?

I also have ntuc vivolife insurance, but I dont have the NTUC link card. From the website, I cant seem to find any indication that NTUC insurance policyholders can get the card. Is it free or still have to pay $9/month?

Can anyone advise? Thx.

NTUC Income Policy Holders can apply for Fairprice membership under the NTUC General Branch Membership category. It is free, but u have to pay $20 for 20 Fairprice shares plus $3 entrance fee to get the Fairprice membership = plus card to earn link points and rebates and dividend. Just write to the email address or call the phone # stated in the website I provided earlier. Then they will check to confirm u are really a policy holder, then send u the form for completion/payment - everything is stated on the form.

Ooops! It is free for people who join before May 1 1993. If u join now, being non-unionised, u have to pay $40 annual fee which will be deducted from the annual rebates u earn. If your annual rebates earned is less than $40, only that amt will be deducted. So unless u spend more than 1k per year, u dun earn any rebates, only dividend. So is it still worth it, u decide.

Hi,

Just wondering how much is the NTUC union membership per year? Some say its $9 per month thats exclusive of GST? Say, if i only want to join for 6 months (since on the website it says, upfront payment of min 6 months) can I dont renew after the 6th month or it have to be one full year? Any idea?
