I thinking of getting a DVB-t2 tuner and plug it into a Android stick when existing TV (Digital TV NOT ready), rather than getting a external DVB-t2 box just to watch TV.

Anyone have similar idea or did something similar already? Thanks.

Rather you get Android stick/box with DVB-C tuner. ;)

I think it's better to keep android box and DVB-C receiver separate.

The former can become obsolete very fast due to the need to watch higher definition videos and running more intensive apps but the latter's standard is pretty much fixed liao.

For the latter, can buy this Openbox V8 Pro which is a DVB-T2/T/C tuner.

Good to know that.

Anyway, will StarHub STB smart card work on such TBS DVB-C PCie tuner?

I am really curious why you peeps willing to spend hundred bucks just to view and record local FTA channels? Those content can be sourced from Toggle or elsewhere easily (albeit most of the time lower resolution & PQ). I was wondering why not spend on VPNs and stream? Please enlighten me. :o

DVB-C can work? Any good android stick / boxu recommend?
Yes we can receive all local FTA Mediacorp HD & SD channels and some Starhub 'free' channels as Starhub did not encrypt those channels. With DVB-C, you can save $$ on getting a separate antenna if you were to proceed with DVB-T2 route. DVB-C signal confirm stable too.

Any recommendations for PCI-E ones? :)

Avermedia T2+C, single tuner, $90 - $100
make sure u get the correct one cos last time sls flooded with old revision which does not work with local T2 channels, not sure the old revision still exist now or not

Hauppauge HVR2215, dual tuners, $189 - $200+

nothing much to choose locally
other brands or quad tuners need to buy from oversea

For portability on-the-go use what small-size, external and powerful antenna would you recommend to be compatible with the WinTV-dualHD dual TV tuner?
